@RKelanic @gideonrachman The problem is they dont have the military capability to hold Hormuz. Ret. General Keane laid that out each time hes on. He says we've been playing this war game for 40yrs, we have the force to take Hormuz and Karg Island and Iran cannot stop us with our capabilities.

"Iran’s exploitation of its control over the strait means that the Islamic republic can now aspire to do far more than merely survive the US-Israeli assault. It has a real prospect of emerging from the war in a strengthened international position." Great piece by @gideonrachman captures why the counterproductive results of Trump's war will be difficult, perhaps impossible, to reverse. @defpriorities ft.com/content/04f6c5…

@RetiredHelmut @SprinterPress its unfortunate but somebody has to do it. You may not like it but its happened under both parties of Govt in the U.S....Nobody wants to be the world police, nobody including the U.S....Venezuela could prosper, so could Cuba and Iran. That would be a good thing coming from a bad

Pezeshkijan: The choice between confrontation and cooperation shapes the future of generations The full text of the message from the President of Iran to the people of America: 🔹 To the people of the United States of America and to those who, amidst a multitude of distortions and fabricated narratives, seek the truth and a better life. 🔹 Iran, under this name, with this identity and this existence, is one of the oldest continuous civilizations in human history; a civilization that, despite enjoying historical and geographical advantages in many periods, has never chosen the path of belligerence, aggression, colonialism, or domination in its modern history. Although it has experienced occupation, aggression, and imposed pressures from world powers, and despite military capabilities compared to many countries in its region, Iran has never started a war but has bravely repelled aggressors. 🔹 The Iranian nation harbors no hostility towards other peoples, including the people of America, Europe, and its neighbors. Iranians, even when faced with interventions and pressures from foreign governments throughout history, have always distinguished between the people and the governments; this is a deeply rooted principle in the mind and culture of this nation, not a temporary stance. 🔹 Based on this, portraying Iran as a threat is neither consistent with historical reality nor with today's objective facts. This image is a product of the political and economic needs of power structures; the need to create an enemy to justify pressure, maintain military superiority, feed the arms industry, and control strategic markets. In such a context, if a threat does not exist, it is fabricated.

@B_S_Gupta @Chellaney Well the U.S. doesnt produce much like they used to so there is a big swing up coming for the U.S... We already feel that here with GDP climbing way past 3% at best weve been stuck in for decades. So far i think Trump has brought in $20 Trillion in investment. Its pouring in

My column: Trump’s war on Iran, and his earlier military intervention in Venezuela, reflect his long-held belief that U.S. control over international energy flows can translate into global geopolitical supremacy and arrest America’s relative decline. That belief has now hardened into operational policy under the banner of America’s global “energy dominance.” Bringing both Iran and Venezuela into Washington’s strategic orbit would give the U.S. an unprecedented lever over global energy markets — one that could be used not merely to influence prices and supply, but to discipline rivals and steer the economic and foreign-policy trajectories of partners. thehill.com/opinion/intern…

The US has lost this war just like I knew they would. It wasn't a decision made out of tact, it was a very stupid idea. Trump is not intelligent anyway just lousy. Trump is the average white man, not exceptional, just deluded in his head "Because I have white skin I'm superior and I should get everything I want." A typical spoiled brat from a rich family who has been handed everything his entire life. No real-life experiences. The US will withdraw in shame. It is a big fumble. Trump destroyed the entirety of the US military's invincibility perception. Every nation that the United States tries to bully will fight back henceforth. In the coming years, you will see the US deepen its relationship with Iran. In fact, they are going to pay that reparition for the war Iran demanded systematically and the next President will support the same regime they were fighting. The next 4 - 6 years of American foreign policy will be less aggressive. Aggression is old-fashioned, the Trump camp just realised. The weapons industry is too advanced for anyone to play the bully. In this era, if you invade anyone, the defending force is most likely to win.

Financial Times: it's likely that everyone will have to pay a toll to pass through the Strait of Hormuz The Financial Times newspaper writes in an editorial: the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz leaves the agreement with Iran as the most realistic option. However, it's likely that Iran will demand a very high price. Iran is aiming for future revenues that could change the rules of the game, as well as gaining leverage to provide incentives or impose sanctions against countries around the world. Trump, who calls himself a "master of negotiations", is in a difficult situation. He recently admitted that he considers the Iranians' negotiating style very "strange". Some of Iran's neighbors are alarmed by the idea of Tehran withdrawing from the war with de facto control over the energy exports of the Persian Gulf, as well as a new source of income. There are many speculations that the UAE and Saudi Arabia might engage in conflict rather than accept such an outcome, but these countries also understand well that Iran's attacks on their oil infrastructure or water supply facilities could cause long-term damage to their economies and societies. In the end, they may conclude that it's better to pay Iran than to escalate the situation. Asian countries, which are the main markets for energy exports from the Persian Gulf and are not directly under Iran's attack, may also consider the possibility of paying. US allies, such as Japan and the European Union, understand that payments to Iran will cause discontent in the US, but the Europeans' relations with the Trump administration are now so bad, and Trump himself is so unpredictable, that they may take this risk rather than accept constantly high energy prices or return to buying Russian oil and gas.

IRAN NEW SUPERPOWER ALERT: WORLD POWER SHIFT IN JUST 33 DAYS Netanyahu boasted Israel would become a super nation in the region and globally. Professor Robert Pape says he is dead wrong. In just 33 days of conflict Iran has seized control of more world oil than any other country on the planet, creating a brand-new center of global power that will dominate for our lifetimes. THE NEW WORLD ORDER ➡️ Before the war there were three centers of world power: the US, Russia and China. ➡️ Russia made that list with just 11 percent of the world's oil. ➡️ Iran now controls double that amount, more than any other country on the planet. THE OIL SUPERPOWER ➡️ This delivers seventy-five to one hundred billion dollars a year more to pour into Iran's military and nuclear program. ➡️ Oil, gas, energy and fertilizer now sit under Iran's chokehold on the world. ➡️ No replacement supply can come online for three or four years even if drilling starts today. THE POWER THAT CANNOT BE UNDONE ➡️ Nuclear enrichment is now more likely than ever to produce actual weapons. ➡️ Iran will not voluntarily give up this new world power status. ➡️ Even if Trump says the war is over tonight the strategic consequences remain locked in. THE BOTTOM LINE Iran has emerged as the fourth global superpower in a single month while Israel's ambitions are dwarfed forever. This changes everything going forward. #IranSuperpower #NewWorldPower #OilChokehold #GlobalPowerShift #EscalationTrap #EnergyDominance #PowerRealignment

If you read between the lines here the whole geopolitical picture becomes crystal clear: the kidnapping of Maduro and this reckless aggression against Iran are not accidents, it is a well coordinated siege meant to break China by cutting off its energy sources. 90% of China’s oil lifeline flows through the Strait of Hormuz. This effectively makes Iran the ultimate "kill switch" for China. If the U.S. can successfully topple Tehran and seize Kharg Island, then this would allow Washington to gain a remote control for the Chinese economy. In any future conflict, Washington would not even need to fire a single missile at Beijing; they could simply close the Strait and watch the world’s second-largest economy grind to a halt in a matter of weeks. Also, with Maduro removed from the board, there is no Venezuelan oil for Beijing to run to as plan B and thus leaving Beijing entirely at the mercy of Russia. And that is exactly why you see the US colony Ukraine incinerating Russian oil and energy infrastructure. They are burning China’s last insurance policy to the ground. The U.S. has no interest in a multipolar world. They are more than happy to drag every one of us into the meat grinder of World War III just to cement their status as the world’s sole superpower. A unipolar world is the new American Dream.

When the US regime imposed secondary sanctions on other countries and companies for trading with Iran, almost everyone adhered to them and betrayed Iran with little resistance. Now that Iran is doing the same and imposing sanctions and costs on its enemies, the same people who readily acquiesced to US sanctions are now complaining. Your illegal sanctions are international law, our legal self defense is illegal.

Markets will tank once it becomes clear that the United States cannot do anything to end this. Iran currently holds the leverage, and that leverage increases with each passing day. They could make demands that are completely unacceptable to the U.S. On the other hand, the U.S. cannot simply withdraw, because doing so would allow Iran, China, and Russia to dictate a new world order: either you align with us against America, or you face losing access to energy, fertilizers, and helium.

Iran was never an imminent nuclear threat to the US before the war. Now, Trump has incentivized Iran to use their nukes to vaporize US cities so a nuclear event or multiple nuclear impacts on US soil cannot be ruled out. The threat that Iran will escalate to the use of a massive nationwide cyber or super EMP attack against the US homeland or limited nuclear strikes on US cities will continue to increase the longer Trump continues to foolishly prolong and escalate his unwinnable great power war with Iran on behalf of Israeli imperial regional hegemony.
Ann Coulter@AnnCoulter

Isn't this obvious to everyone??? <<[Iran] was not even close to posing an imminent nuclear threat to its neighbors or the United States. Alas, in pummeling Iran inconclusively, Trump has likely heightened the nuclear threat that it will pose in future as the country’s leaders conclude that it must follow North Korea’s path.>> -- fantastic article in the Spectator by Jacob Heilbum.

The U.S. is in a strategic catastrophe! The UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar, together with China, have begun negotiations with Iran, with China taking the lead. And Trump has announced that he is stepping aside. This means the dollar is screwed. China, as a mediator, will demand that the yuan become the currency for oil trade, and we can bury the dollar and declare a U.S. default in 15 years. )) It only seems like that’s far away. Just one incompetent person with six bankruptcies behind him managed to bring such a country to its knees in one year. (( Applause to those who voted for him!!!
