I’ve been on the receiving side of these random extra screenings twice! I also had to explain my insulin for 15 minutes. Better and faster technology like the full body scanners everywhere should make those unnecessary. I’ve seen enough videos of planes lately. I’m ok with extra security in these times. We no longer live in a high trust society.

@NeaOpsis We can run bags through a scanner without stripping down and screaming about shampoo and conditioner. I remember one time being pulled aside with my 8 year old because he was randomly selected for additional screening. Pure theater!!

There may not be direct checks being written, although I think there is some of this going on. But the bot farms to flame engagement are definitely a thing. And this engagement leads to money paid from X for many. It’s the flip side of the coin of the paid protestors which is also definitely happening.

Most of the people you think are "paid" to say what they say probably aren't paid. By Israel, by the IDF, by Hamas, by Trump, by the DNC.
This is a child's idea of the human mind. Reputation, ego, vanity, and all sorts of non-pecuniary rewards are more than enough to motivate people to say ridiculous things (or things you find ridiculous, but that other people do not find ridiculous).
A lot of people on here think their ideological adversaries are getting "paid". There's always the implication that there's some secret, dark slush fund.
It's stupid. It's not that dramatic. They disagree with you, or their ego got out ahead of them, or they get social standing, or any number of other things.
Hell, they often even *believe* what they're saying without being paid.

I thank God for @BishopBarron! Those of us on Presidential Commission were embarrassed and horrified by Ms. Boller's behavior that day. I'm deeply grateful for @BishopBarron's speaking out about this.

Over the past several weeks, Carrie Prejean Boller has complained that she was removed from the Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty because of her Catholic beliefs, and she has called out myself and other Catholic members of the commission for not defending her. This is absurd. Mrs. Prejean Boller was not dismissed for her religious convictions but rather for her behavior at a gathering of the Commission last month: browbeating witnesses, aggressively asserting her point of view, hijacking the meeting for her own political purposes. The Catholic position on matters of “Zionism,” to which I fully subscribe, is as follows: all forms of antisemitism are to be unequivocally condemned; the state of Israel has a right to exist; but the modern nation of Israel does not represent the fulfillment of Biblical prophecies and hence does not stand beyond criticism. If Mrs. Prejean Boller were dismissed for holding these beliefs, it is difficult to understand why I am still a member of the Commission. To paint herself as a victim of anti-Catholic prejudice or to claim that her religious liberty has been denied is simply preposterous.
