@FU_joehudson Great distinction, Joe. Assuming that we're broken or defective feeds into an addiction loop. Observation, love, wonder and curiosity about one's self - who is really in here? - is empowerment.

Self-improvement assumes something is broken. Self-discovery assumes something is hidden.

In honor of 50 years of Apple, we're sharing - for the first time ever - Don Valentine's original 1977 memo for Sequoia's investment into Apple Computer. #Apple50

@mnolangray Entrepreneurship isn't owning a business, and asserting that is making life difficult for entrepreneurial people AND business owners. Entrepreneur is a personality type characterized as someone who can't help but put themselves at risk to improve something.

I had a mother once come to me, saying that she felt like she was drowning in resentment for her husband and felt no joy in raising her children. Everyday life was a struggle. In her psilocybin mushroom journey, she went to what she described as Hell. No one was there, she was utterly alone for what felt like eternity, and it was as if nothing in her life had ever existed. When she returned, she wept from the overwhelming love and gratitude she felt for her family, especially for her young children. She had awakened to the incredible blessing it was to have been chosen as their mother in this lifetime. All of it was a gift. We fear the so called “bad trips” the most, and yet, they are often exactly the medicine we need.

The only thing that can stop a bad guy with an AI is a good guy with an AI. Or many good guys with AI. We need to find ways to incentivize that, and build our detection, defense, and intervention capacities proactively. Like pandemic defense, but so much broader.

Memo: What If We're Right? We recently wrote a private letter to partners & friends of a common failure mode: the inability to consistently reason through the daisy chain of downstream consequence when non-consensus, low-probability, events actually occur pages: 1-3

A 1,000-year-old drug kit was found in a Bolivian cave. Inside: five psychoactive compounds, including the exact recipe for ayahuasca. Cocaine. DMT. Harmine. Bufotenine. Possibly psilocin. The largest collection ever found in a single South American artifact. None of these plants grow within 𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘴 of that cave. Someone was running a continent-wide psychedelic supply chain in 950 AD. That's 500 years before Columbus "discovered" the Americas.
