@DecrepitProwl Do not go weld something like this. This is a stainless frame, 416 I believe, go read up on how that takes to welding. The answer is very poorly.

@NotaGuntuber If it were the case that the dimensions were affected enough to effectively ruin the frame, how sketchy would it be to use a TIG welder to build the material back up, and then mill it back to spec? (provided you had the necessary tooling/experience/etc?) I've never seen it done.

Don’t work on your guns late at night when you’re tired. Regardless of what you think, your dexterity isn’t as good when tired. Neither is your decision-making. Basically none of the skills you need to avoid making mistakes This one isn’t horrible. But I am really mad at myself

@DecrepitProwl It’s not. It’s aesthetic. But if it weren’t, you still have a ton of other surfaces keeping things aligned. You may. Read may. Loosen up tolerances faster now over thousands upon thousands of rounds. Where before you had N surfaces holding tolerance, now you have n-1.

@port_daddy @RealGunsmithing I wasn’t doing slide fitting here. I accidentally hit my already fit rails with a file like a dumb dumb.

@RealGunsmithing @NotaGuntuber And to clarify the term hammer fit doesn’t mean beat it with a hammer. It means fit it so it’s stiff to the point where the slide can be installed and removed but requires being tapped on or off. Let it self fit the final amount instead of trying to fit it before break in

@port_daddy The slide to frame fit has been perfection for weeks. Last night I was needing to file flat the rounded top pins to get an ambi safety to sit flat on the right side. Being a lazy jerk and knowing I’d blast and cerakote it later I did it with them in. Bad, tired decision making.
