The Constitution & 2nd Amendment protect the lawful ownership of semi-automatic rifles such as the AR-15. @TheJusticeDept will aggressively defend this right, & the @CivilRights Division will sue if states refuse to comply.

@RBerestka @dieworkwear I think a better (if not perfect) word you might want to use would be disingenuous. It’s disingenuous to say the Pope is the authority on catholic theology when his position aligns with one’s own, but then to disregard that authority when it conflicts.

@RBerestka Definitions can be easily found in dictionaries. In a physical form, these appear as bound pages. You can also use online dictionaries.

@dieworkwear Misses the issue. You can agree on one issue with the Pope and disagree on the other. Agreed that's not hypocrisy. It is hypocritical to tell the Pope to bud out of US politics on an issue of morality (say abortion), but then tout him as the moral authority on the war. Good day.

@RBerestka Yes, once again, someone who is not Catholic can say they agree with some of the Pope's positions and not others. They are not being hypocritical bc they're not Catholic. Anyway, there are only so many ways I can phrase this. I wish you a good day.

@dieworkwear It is the part about them using the Pope as an authoratative figure conveniently when it comes to criticism of Trump, but claiming the Pope is not an authoratative figure on other US political issues of moral significance. I know you understand this.

@RBerestka Yes, exactly. "Feigning to be what one is not" would apply to people who pretend to be Catholic but don't follow Catholic teachings. However, someone who is not Catholic may agree with certain Catholic teachings but not others.

@dieworkwear You ascribe a far too narrow definition to the word hypocrisy. Then you create a strawman argument to support your position. Hypocricy here is a bunch of people that have no use for the Pope's authority suddenly using him as an authoratative figure to attack Trump.

You've set up a strawman. Hypocrisy is when you hold a moral standard while acting against it, or attacking others for a moral standard that you don't follow. If I say that people who eat meat are morally bad, but I eat meat every night, then I can be accused of hypocrisy. It is not hypocritical to criticize a system you don’t belong to, nor to agree with parts of it and reject others. For instance, if I say that I agree with the Islamic teaching that we should help the poor, but I disagree with the idea that we shouldn't eat pork, this doesn't make me hypocritical. You've set up a strawman by saying that Trump's critics claim the Pope is infallible. I don't believe anyone is saying that, especially people who aren't Catholic. They simply agree with the Pope on this specific matter. Since they are not Catholic, they can also disagree with the Pope on other matters. This does not make them hypocritical.

Truly remarkable how many leftists with no use for the Catholic Church are cheering on the Pope when criticizes Trump. Or spout off despite their thin education on theology. Or cheer the Pope for using theology as a basis for attacking US policy decisions. The hubris is amazing.

Truly remarkable how many people have told the Pope, in some way or another, to "shut up and dribble." Or corrected him on the Bible, despite their thin education on theology. Or told him to stay out of US affairs, despite him being a US citizen. The hubris is amazing.

@icarusunstuck @dieworkwear Nah, i lived in San Francisco for thirty years listening to them spout off on all sorts of issues. Because nobody ever gave them pushback, they're all convinced they're right, and much smarter than everyone else. An echo chamber.

@RBerestka @dieworkwear Who are these “leftists” you talk about, New Englander? Do you just mean the people Fox instructs you to yell at, the high school drama teacher and the teen next door who caught you staring at her crop top? Or is it just your convenient way to group people you hate?

@dieworkwear Yes, non Catholic leftists can be hypocritical bc they attack the Catholic Church on issues like abortion telling the Church to bud out of American politics, but suddenly cheer the Pope on as *the* infallible moral authority when he attacks Trump on "moral" grounds.

@RBerestka Once again, someone who's not Catholic can't be hypocritical by simply deferring to the Pope on Catholic matters or teachings. I recommend first learning the English language. This will help you communicate your ideas more clearly.

@dieworkwear Sorry Derek these folks are both hypocritical, and hubristic. I can't help it if you fail to understand the point of my post. Most leftists are hubristic by definition.

@RBerestka You appear to not know what hubris means. Hubris refers to excessive pride or overconfidence. Someone who is not Catholic but defers to the Pope on Catholic matters doesn't have hubris by definition. However, someone who misuses words in an arrogant way may have hurbis.

They do this stuff with such regularity so that it’s impossible for appeals courts to keep up. Like the strategy behind the Muslim invasion, they are simply wearing us down. All we do is play catch up. Sadly it’s working.
