Project Hail Mary was a 9.5/10 Outstanding cinematography and the practical effects were a breath of fresh air after being bombarded with constant AI and CGI slop for the last fifteen years. They lose a half point for ruining the surprise character in the trailers.

@IMAO_ very surprised they didn't use their one "fuck" when Grace first saw the blip A. iirc the only time he swore in the book, woulda been perfect. but yeah some of the trailers were too much for my 9yo but nothing in the film really.

Unless I missed something, it really felt like Project Hail Mary could have been rated PG.

oh i forgot somewhere around dinner 4yo was menacing @selentelechia by pretending to be a cat and she refused to be put off. so one of us threatened to throw her in a snowbank if she didn't stop. and she didn't! so bosco picked her up and started walking toward the door and she protested and bosco said oh then will you stop being a cat and she said NO this happened several times even once we got the door open. i had switched to carrying 4yo this time and we said ok last chance no more cat or you go in the snow bank and she said NO and readers i (very gently) tossed her into the snowbank she was briefly outraged that we had gotten her dress wet but by the time she was back indoors she was right back to being a cat. and that should tell you something about the effectiveness of parental discipline in this household i guess

I think maybe an issue with the Scott post was that many people don't understand what mayhem with kids is like. Here's my day with them. 6:00: I wake up 6:30: 4yo and 1yo wake up. I change 1yo's diaper and tell 4yo to get dressed. 6:45: I make 4yo for breakfast (waffle with strawberries) and give 1yo some slice strawberries 7:00: 4yo eating waffle and I get 1yo dressed. 7:05: I am trying to pack them out the door so they can get to preschool for Second Breakfast. 4yo reveals she hasn't changed her clothes since yesterday (she sleeps in her clothes, usually. fine) 7:10: 4yo is still getting dressed. 1yo is in his coat. 7:15: 4yo is dressed but she wants to take her 2' Totodile plushie to school for nap time. I do not believe her teachers will let her do this and with some effort I convince her to take another plushie. 7:30: I drop kids off at Montessori and rush them to their rooms in time for second breakfast but realize I did not remember to take 4yo's backpack or 1yo's diaper refill because of the Totodile incident. 7:50: I return to Montessori with diapers and backpack. (work) 4:30: Kids arrive home and there is shouting. 4:45: I heat up some prepped chicken and rice and try to share with 1yo. He shoves a handful of chicken into his mouth and refuses to eat any more, and expresses his fury at the suggesting that he might by throwing a hat across the table over and over. I give up. 4:55: 4yo sings a song about how she's going to take Totodile to school tomorrow and how maybe her teachers will be mad but she hopes they won't. 5:00: I take kids to the attic to watch Pokemon with 4yo and roughhouse with 1yo. 4yo refuses to stop jumping on the couch. 1yo spills milk on a new wool blanket. 5:30: I take 1yo to get ready for bed. 5:45: I try to get 1yo to sleep. He freaks out once we get to bed, this is new, I guess this is a real sleep regression. What to do. We play bedtime music and I try reading him a story. He's into it. 6:00: 1yo is drunk on milk and finally agrees to lie down. 6:15: 1yo finally asleep and I slip away 7:30: 4yo ready for bed but she wants to sleep in her loft instead of her toddler bed. She insists I move all of her blankets up the ladder including the weighted blanket. I somehow manage this without waking 1yo. 7:40: I make it through 10 pages of Time for Bed Miyuki and she's asleep. Overall not as wild as it might have been. But it felt like a Lot.

HOLY COW MINNESOTA VOTER FRAUD This is the form used to vouch up to 8 voters on Election Day (for people that don’t have IDs). If you read closely it says, “Employees of residential facilities may vouch for an 👉UNLIMITED👈 number of facility residents.” This is legal. This is Minnesota law. Which means that there *should* be a paper trail of every single one of these vouching forms. How many persons serve as vouchers each election? What is the number of persons for each voucher? Do these vouchers show up every single election? We need to begin submitting Data Practices Requests to the Minnesota Secretary of State. This is a huge story.

went on a tour of a kindergarten option for next year and a mom spent the first 20min drilling the principal about their school shooting procedures in front of a bunch of 4yos later on the principal mentioned that during covid he saw something like 90% teacher turnover after he refused to punish kids for not consistently wearing masks. he was strained for the entire conversation like he was bracing for an explosion. at the end the mom from earlier looked practically panicked at the idea kids wouldn't have access to phones or electronics during the school day. i assume because she lives in constant terror of school shootings and needs to have continuous awareness of her son when he's out of sight. and how could the school ban electronics? how else will children learn how to take computerized electronic exams? people are cooked

The interesting part is that this is 100% optional and save for a genetic disorder like his balls never dropping which it sounds like they have since he’s tall and handsome indicating masculinization than his voice is a learned trait stemming from habit prob from some programming he picked up as a kid. So if he removed that block his voice would return to normal and wayyyy deeper which for him prob sounds completely alien. So she’s right for being weirded out because it indicates unresolved emotional blocks

One of my girlfriends in NYC went on a date last night. Everything lines up like a Hallmark movie. He picks a great spot. He’s standing outside the bar when she arrives.
