“Here is the breaking news… the news is broken.” My message before a hearing held by @SenAdamSchiff in CA for stopping Trump’s march toward state-dominated media in America. The news doesn’t belong to the oligarchs. It belongs to us.

Given the growing antisemitism in this country, it is now or never to finish off Iran. We'll never get the chance again. Too many people will really believe it's for the Jews instead of stopping a really evil regime that wants to kill us all. We cannot give up this fight.

Over the past several weeks, Carrie Prejean Boller has complained that she was removed from the Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty because of her Catholic beliefs, and she has called out myself and other Catholic members of the commission for not defending her. This is absurd. Mrs. Prejean Boller was not dismissed for her religious convictions but rather for her behavior at a gathering of the Commission last month: browbeating witnesses, aggressively asserting her point of view, hijacking the meeting for her own political purposes. The Catholic position on matters of “Zionism,” to which I fully subscribe, is as follows: all forms of antisemitism are to be unequivocally condemned; the state of Israel has a right to exist; but the modern nation of Israel does not represent the fulfillment of Biblical prophecies and hence does not stand beyond criticism. If Mrs. Prejean Boller were dismissed for holding these beliefs, it is difficult to understand why I am still a member of the Commission. To paint herself as a victim of anti-Catholic prejudice or to claim that her religious liberty has been denied is simply preposterous.
Carrie Prejean Boller@CarriePrejean1

Your Excellency, you shared with me through text message to me that my position reflects Catholic teaching, especially that the modern state of Israel is not the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. That is the position I expressed, and yet I was removed from the Religious Liberty Commission. Respectfully, it is difficult not to conclude that this commission does not truly care about religious liberty when a Catholic can be removed for faithfully articulating the Church’s teaching. Asking me to deny Catholic teaching in order to satisfy a political ideology is itself a violation of my religious freedom. As Pope Leo XIII warned, “To recoil before an enemy, or to keep silence when from all sides such clamor is raised against truth, is the part of a coward.” Whether I serve on this Commission or not, my voice will only grow louder for those being persecuted for their faith. I believe this appointment was ordained by God, and I will not abandon my Catholic faith to keep a position on a commission that has abandoned its mission. If my religious freedom is not protected, then no one’s is. Please speak up. Please stand up for Catholics. Be brave, Bishop Barron. The world needs brave men.

Aside from being the genesis of strong broadcast news, CBS News Radio has remained a good listen to this day - an efficient connection to the world at the top of each hour. No idea of the economics, of course. In its early years CBS News was presented as a public service.
Brian Stelter@brianstelter

A second memo from Bari Weiss and Tom Cibrowski says CBS News Radio is shutting down. Here's the memo: Today, we informed our CBS News Radio team and approximately 700 affiliated stations that we will end the service on May 22, 2026. Unfortunately, this decision means that all positions within the CBS News Radio team are being eliminated.  We understand how difficult this news is for our staff and their colleagues, who have worked side by side with us to cover some of the most significant stories of our time. While this was a necessary decision, it was not an easy one.  A shift in radio station programming strategies, coupled with challenging economic realities, has made it impossible to continue the service.  We are sharing this announcement now to fulfill our commitments to our radio partners and affiliates, which require advance notice of the service’s conclusion. For nearly 100 years, CBS News Radio has delivered original reporting to the nation—from Edward R. Murrow’s World War II reports in London to today’s daily White House updates.  Our signature broadcast, “World News Roundup,” remains the longest-running newscast in the country.  CBS News Radio served as the foundation for everything we have built since 1927. The coming weeks will be difficult for the team members who have worked tirelessly at CBS News Radio.  We are committed to supporting these valued colleagues with care and respect as we wind down operations.  They have been critical to our success and remain treasured friends and professionals.  We thank them deeply for their contributions. Thank you all for your dedication and for the compassion you show one another as we move forward. Bari and Tom

Edward Norton is the absolute perfect example of the bubble that Hollywood and the left live in. It doesn’t matter that he has no idea what he’s talking about, he’s surrounded by people and information that confirm whatever he thinks

We love ripping the people who make all this amazing entertainment we devour. Brilliant writers, actors, filmmakers. But if they dare to observe the world around them, they’re dismissed, part of the of the “Hollywood left” bubble. Guess what? You live in a bubble, too. We all do.

Earlier this week, there seemed to be a great freak out from the woke right. They doubled down defending Steve Bannon, attacking anyone who questioned Joe Kent, etc. I think, after seeing nobody show up at the Catholics for Catholics event, the theory many of us had is true. These guys believed their own bullshit. They got convinced they were the majority. They built an echo chamber and got high on their own supply. They've used bots to amplify their reach, drive up viewer numbers, etc. Here comes the polling that MAGA supports the President, the public hates Iran, and the GOP opposes anti-semitism. Turns out their chief puppet master was Jeffrey Epstein's bestie. Also turns out they were not Trump's puppet masters as they presumed they were. Now they're lashing out. We've got the Steve Bannon defenses. We've got them trying to elevate Joe Kent, in what has clearly been coordinated with foreign media entities. And at the end of the day, what I need some of you to see is that it was never Qatar underwriting this. It is and has always been people in Russia. Alexander Dugin promoting all this stuff with the scientology freak in England sort of gives away the game.
