The sequencer I built has already come in handy. It's already in use for a boss fight's transitions, and for multiple pieces of new side content. I can already say with confidence I've saved ~4 hours of time with it. yay a win !

Nothing super crazy, but I finally wrote my own sequencer system so I can make stuff like this, where it's *like* a cutscene without being fully hand-animated, much faster. Hopefully this means more side content in general 🤞 because now it's a lot cheaper to produce

@titolovesyou Your form reminds me of when I was learning. Biggest thing was not slamming your front foot down too early and just letting the board come up/level out to your back foot and ride it down. Your still already doing way better than a few people I used to skate with lol

my recent call for haters has sparked some really great discussions on the topic of creativity, so here's the story of someone who makes stuff! over the years I've released a bunch of games. horror games, VR games, puzzle games, abstract arty games. I've published short stories and novels, I've drawn comic books, I've written spec scripts for movies and TV shows. I've played guitar in bands and I've recorded a few albums. I've written plenty of poetry. I've designed mobile apps and built websites. I made whatever the heck this pixel art thing is below and in these nearly 3 decades of "making stuff" i've never achieved anything approaching interest, let alone success. And that's fine - I make stuff because I enjoy it. This is the experience of almost everyone who spends time making stuff. we consistently fail, all the time. that's how this works. it's just a little disappointing is all - I'm sure a lot of you can relate so recently I decided I'd start a new project from a more calculated perspective. I'd seen lots of other devs achieve success by reviving an old genre in a faithful way. Stardew Valley is Harvest Moon, Undertale is Earthbound, etc. So what if I tried that? What if I made a game that's like Ocarina of Time, but super pared back, barebones, something achievable by a single person. Maybe if I lean heavily into the aesthetic and the core game design, it will get some people interested in what I do. Let's give that a try and share my progress on twitter And it worked! Here you all are. And it's been awesome. I understand that some people think my latest project is trite, uninspired, derivative. They're frustrated that I'd waste thousands of hours building something so uncreative. And I agree! I love making original stuff. But it's this project that brought you here after all this time - not some other vision you might have for how I should best spend my time. And I'm just as happy writing this love letter to OoT as I am building anything else. This isn't my dream game, it's project #9813 It's also worth noting that there's far more creativity poured into Azaran than it appears. But if that's not evident when you play it, it's fine, I don't mind. My goal is to make a good game, not to stun you all with my originality Who knows what my next project might be! I might write another novel, I might make a Super Monkey Ball clone. I might create a game so original and fantastic that it prompts waves of copycats for years to come. But for 2026 I'll be finishing my OoT clone and enjoying the hell out of it now here's Zalgortih

@FPSthetics So many choices in that game feel like they were trying to re-add friction but instead just ruined the QOL. Combat is too strong so just add durability and call it a day.
