From Senegalese New Yorkers in Harlem to Ghanaians immigrants in the Bronx, New York City’s African communities bring life to all five boroughs, each and every day.
Today, I joined the Africa Center for their annual Africa Day celebration. It was a privilege to be surrounded by so much laughter, music, and history — and to honor these New Yorkers.

@RepBeatty @PoliticsNation @TheRevAl Please fix the fiscal and structural neglect already. And sue those performers that pulled out and left workers and contractors without jobs

@RepKamlagerDove Why do you think this is necessary? Because so many have abused rhe system. Blame them for making it now tougher for everyone else.

Trump and Stephen Miller want half a million people who are here legally to leave the U.S. in order apply for a green card. This would rip apart families and sink our economy even further.
This was never about immigrants coming here "the right way." We must fight this.

According to reports, Peter Thiel has left the United States and moved to Argentina, reportedly saying that America is heading toward a major crisis and that he felt compelled to relocate before it unfolds.
If true, Thiel may be seeing something that many others are overlooking. Perhaps the explanation is simpler than it appears: his political chess game has not unfolded the way he expected. Donald Trump has fully embraced the spotlight and effectively pushed J.D. Vance into the background. More importantly, the "orange grandfather" has proven far more resilient and ambitious than many of his supporters and backers anticipated.
Rather than a calm second term, Trump has turned his presidency into a nonstop political spectacle. Constant controversies, public feuds, and an endless battle for attention have gradually weakened the Republican Party's position. If current trends continue, the midterm elections could become a serious setback for Republicans. In that scenario, Vance, Rubio, and other aspiring leaders may find themselves watching from the sidelines as a "blue wave" washes away their hopes of future power.
But the most turbulent period may come later. As Trump's term approaches its final years, his political influence will inevitably begin to fade. Once he becomes a classic lame-duck president, members of his administration could face investigations, legal challenges, and efforts to hold them accountable for their actions. For some, the consequences could be severe.
Perhaps this is exactly the scenario Thiel wants to avoid. And if he has indeed decided to seek a safe haven outside the United States, an obvious question follows: who might be next? Elon Musk? Jeff Bezos? Or other members of America's elite who prefer to prepare for a storm long before everyone else sees it coming?

@FoxNews She’ s blaming everyone but the ‘protestors’ from out of town. Why doesn’t she investigate that?

BREAKING: New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill speaks out after anti-ICE chaos outside Delaney Hall, says she refuses to "give ICE a pretext" to expand operations.
"Let me be clear: ICE engagement creates an incredibly dangerous situation. It makes the situation worse, and I refuse to back down in fighting the Trump administration."
"We know that people from outside the state have been interfering in the protest and escalating them."
"To the people coming from out of state to create chaos and dangerous situations: You should not be here."

New Yorkers receiving SNAP benefits could be at risk of losing them due to the federal administration’s new work requirements.
Take action now to stay compliant with these new rules and continue getting your SNAP benefits.

@MattWalshBlog Great idea - get an orchestra and also a DJ. You could even do a few sets with both of them together - very now.

Might be an unpopular opinion on here but replacing a concert with a speech is lame and boring. Just go out and get real musicians to play. Don’t cancel the concert just because a bunch of washed up old has-beens canceled. There are hundreds of artists out there who might not be famous but would absolutely leap at the chance to play on a stage like this.

@FrankPallone Maybe you should telling them that the ones who have abused the system for so long are to blame. Reality check.

When I visit Delaney Hall, the immigrants detained there always talk about how much they value the American dream. They desire liberty and to return to work to provide for their families. They’re shocked that they can be stripped of due process and be put in a place like this—in what is supposed to be the land of the free.
Trump wants to strip any pathway to citizenship and belonging in America, and destroy the American dream. And he’s doing it in places like Delaney Hall.

KB in the PNW-Resisting since 1964@KirstyBain65
Did anyone in the know ever follow up with this grand theft from the White House last year?! Seems to me someone should know where that historic desk now sits and if it’s in the gilded but moldy Mar A Lago mausoleum it should be brought back IMMEDIATELY! #WhereIsTheResoluteDesk
