A good and, as always, very constructive discussion with the U.S. Senators @LindseyGrahamSC and @SenBlumenthal. I briefed them on the combined Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure – hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles every day, deliberately timed right now, during such a bitterly cold winter. That’s why missiles for air defense remain our top priority, and we count on our partners’ support. We see many various factors that make Putin – and, by extension, all of Russia – significantly weaker. It is crucial to maximize every possible form of pressure to finally force the Russians to end this war. We discussed the current state of the senators’ sanctions bill, which can have a substantial impact on the positions of Russia and all those aiding it in this war. I also updated them on the progress of our contacts with envoys of President Trump – we are now very close to finalizing the documents. And I am grateful to the senators for their stance on the importance of security guarantees and their continued bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress. Everyone remembers what the Budapest Memorandum was – no one wants a repeat. We agreed to continue our dialogue and discuss everything at a meeting in the near future. Thank you for your help and bipartisan support!

BREAKING: All five parties in Greenland issue a statement. “We don’t want to be Americans, we don’t want to be Danish; we want to be Greenlanders.”

It will be interesting to see how "empty" this Russian-flagged tanker really is, considering it has been on the run for two weeks with Russian assets sent to escort it.

U.S. Finds Ukraine Didn’t Target Putin in Drone Strike wsj.com/politics/natio…

NEW: The Kremlin accused Ukraine of conducting a long-range drone strike targeting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in Novgorod Oblast on December 29. 🧵(1/3) The circumstances of this alleged strike do not conform to the pattern of observed evidence when Ukrainian forces conduct strikes into Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refuted the alleged strike against Putin’s residence in Novgorod Oblast and warned that Russia will use this claim to justify strikes against Kyiv City and Ukrainian government buildings. The Kremlin may intend to use this claimed strike to justify its rejection of any peace proposals that come out of recent bilateral US-Ukrainian and multilateral US-Ukrainian-European talks.
