@drowsyinvestor I feel like these are times when people completely shift their investing styles. I’m sure it sometimes pays off, and sometimes exacerbates the portfolio destruction. Will be interesting to see some of those stories play out on X.

For the second time in the past decade I’m down more than 20% YTD. The last time was during the doldrums of 2022-23. This time does feel different. A seismic shift in business model is changing perceptions and slowly, but surely, changing how companies spend money. My investing thesis relied on company expenditures, meaning SaaS subscription, staying relatively the same. Additionally, perceptions of a shifting $NVDA led GPU race are confusing or at least complicating the AI trend and push NVDA to lowest forward p/e in years. Meanwhile still feel my “long AI investing/short humanity” joke is becoming more a reality and my mainline feeling. At the same time one of the largest geopolitical shocks is occurring with little ability to return to pre-conflict norms. And despite an early view of $CRWD has no correlation to oil prices, it does have correlation to market sentiment and larger business trends. Same for $AMZN and $MELI. So where do we go from here? On a surface level, surviving a pullback is a stretch of a long term investor, especially as the S&P isn’t even in correction territory. I’ve had a drop of 40% and several 20%+ in my 14 years of investing. Companies that are adopting AI, have a unique moat, and with a hardware kicker seems to be in quite a resilient place. $AXON has that and has come down from highs. I’ve spent more time away from the market to clear my mind and emotions and I’ve built a more robust watchlist than I usually do. $MSFT falling is interesting. $MA on multi year p/e lows is intriguing. $ALAB, $ANET, $CLS, $CRDO are some others catching my attention. Go slow. Optimize this mess. This too will pass (or at least clear up).
