This is happening in every other professional setting. So why don’t doctors’ unions have an answer for the challenges of access and the opportunity of a broadening skills base? Other than, of course, to go on strike and to slag off their colleagues?

@JohannaSurgeon @MedRegoncall1 i never get the logic behind this argument. an expert makes a mistake, the answer should be what went wrong and how to make sure it doesnt happen, but in NHS, the answer is, lets replace the expert with quacks.

@MedRegoncall1 How terribly sad. Yes GP’s can miss important diagnoses too. But I fail to see why that is an argument for letting less well trained professionals work in general primary care.

🔴 Physician Assistant students strike again from GP land. This time they killed a high-risk patient who recently had a caesarean section and fobbed her off with an “anxiety” diagnosis 💀☠️ ⭕️ The lady had two fatal cardiac arrests and passed away. ⭕️ This PA student was only supervised by her PA mate. ⭕️ No mention of any GP oversight. Basically, the blind leading the blind.

@AliJaneMoore These were the posts that we had been asked to create by converting locally employed doctor posts. Which we identified at great effort and notified the doctors in them that their role would not continue after August unless they were successful in the National recruitment.

Surely the NHS is in the middle of interviewing for and appointing to these posts? And trusts will have planned on receiving people into these new roles come August?

@ExplosiveEnema2 3. Fair is giving some1 a chance who has been in the system for acceptable amount of time, learn and give back. not 5 years which is conveniently ILR. u cant make it more cuz it will be illegal for ILR holder not to be protectd. this also means u can make it 10 years later?

@ExplosiveEnema2 2. u know well 5 years is next to impossible for IMGs due to how LED posts work, they are tied to visa, this will make these post even more exploititive cuz raising 1 concern meaning no extension, more abuse. IMGs can't just save money and stay home for a couple months inbetween
