All Armed Forces personnel are considered to be "On Duty" 24x7 ( a fact duly ratified by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in so many judgements) and hence, for Regular Armed Forces personnel, there is no concept of "On Duty" or "Off Duty" and hence there is no requirement of "On Duty Passes". Such passes are required for the Irregular Armed Forces personnel only like Territorial Army personnel etc. The Indian Tolls Act, 1901 is absolutely clear about this. We all owe Lt Col an apology. The new video shatters the lies spread by SpiceJet. The armyman was 1st attacked by SpiceJet officials 2 times before the officer retaliated. A story that should shake every Indian's conscience. An Army officer—Lt Col, travelling alone on urgent family leave—was humiliated, assaulted & left bleeding… not at the hands of enemies, but by SpiceJet staff at Srinagar Airport. The bag was cleared without objection at the check-in counter by SpiceJet staff. He was calm, respectful—and in a rush to see his family. But the real trouble began at the boarding gate. Suddenly, a group of 4–5 SpiceJet ground staff confronted him aggressively. They questioned the bag weight that was already cleared earlier. It wasn’t about the bag. It was about intimidation. The officer explained his situation—he was on urgent personal leave. He even tried to lighten the bag, removing and discarding his own clothes. Instead of helping, staff mocked him. One even said: “Aaj army wala fansa hai.” Disrespectful. Shameful. Unprovoked. He politely asked to speak with a senior staff member. Request denied. Instead, they shut the boarding gate in his face—while he was still reasoning. At that moment, their attitude turned more aggressive. He was surrounded. Outnumbered. Provoked. A minor scuffle followed when he tried to reason further. Let this be clear: He was alone, unarmed. They were many, controlling the area. He was left visibly injured. The ones who attacked him now claim “minor bruises” and filed an FIR. Now here’s the most disturbing part: Some media outlets ran SpiceJet’s version, labeling the officer as the aggressor. No investigation. No verification. No balance. Just blind reporting. This isn’t journalism. It’s character assassination. This man wasn’t a threat. He wasn’t a rule-breaker. He was an Indian Army officer, serving this country, trying to get home. He was humiliated, assaulted & left injured—by airline staff who forgot his humanity and his service. We all owe Lt Col an apology. And we demand accountability. Spicejet says the man in orange (an Army officer) has been booked for this “murderous assault” on its staff at Srinagar airport over payment for excess cabin baggage. Airline says spinal fracture and broken jaw among the injuries. Probe underway.

This behaviour by @TheOfficialSBI Branch Manager is simply not acceptable. If you are doing customer interface work in Karnataka, especially in a sector like banking , it is important to communicate to customers in the language they know. Being adamant like this is simply not right. I have time and again raised this issue of mandatorily posting local staff or staff who know the local language in banking operations, both inside and outside Parliament. Just a few weeks ago, at a Public Accounts Committee meeting, I had raised this issue to the DFS Secretary who assured me action will be taken to follow a office notification that makes this requirement of local language knowledge compulsory. Looks like this still isn’t being enforced properly. I urge the concerned at @TheOfficialSBI to immediately implement the DFS policy that mandates local language requirement. I have spoken to concerned authorities to take action against this manager who has behaved in this manner. Banks working in Karnataka should serve customers in Kannada. Period.

@flyspicejet One question to Spicejet,how do u account for 15kg check in bag which was allowed and not utilised. Is it fare to charge for just 1 kg extra citing 01 additional laptop bag carried with the hand bag making it overall 2 Kg excess bag. No doubts Spicejet has resorted to extortion

@flyspicejet Had the worst experience of Flying with Spicejet. Mumbai-Delhi 09 May 24, 2240 hrs departure. Was carrying only hand baggage and one laptop bag without laptop and no Checkin baggage. The Ground Staff checked the weight which was 8 kg and charged for 2 Kg extra.
