@futbolretroes R9, Van Basten & ... Romario is definitely among the finalists for the 3rd spot.

@UtdByMac As a winger he was 1 of if not the best winger in the world/history. As a striker it was the same. When his position changed his play style changed. I don't understand why people struggle with this.

@Skint_Eastwood1 Some speech is criminal in the USA & we will always be sliding the bar where we draw that line.

Ricky Gervais on 60 Minutes Makes a Crystal-Clear Case for Free Speech He put it perfectly: the great thing about freedom of speech is that I can say what I want, and you can say you're offended, and I get to decide whether I care or not. Because let's be honest, there's nothing you can say that someone, somewhere won't find offensive. That's why blasphemy laws are so absurd, they're basically trying to protect an all-powerful deity from having its feelings hurt. At the end of the day, we should be free to criticise any idea. Just because you're offended doesn't automatically mean you're right. Spot on, Ricky. Free speech isn't about never upsetting anyone, it's about the right to speak anyway.

@TaylorTwellman Retroactive punishments & fines for simulation for both player & team has been an option for a long time & easy enough to enact. It's beyond me why it isn't utilized. Dark arts are a part of the game but ends the more egregious examples that bring the game into disreput.

I legitimately enjoy the subway experience. Makes life feel like a video game especially if you live right next to a stop. Step outside and you basically have a portal right in front of you that allows you to spawn in and out of new worlds at will. Remove the friction of traffic, parking, anything that perturbs flow and all you're left with is the most energetic version of you again

the funniest thing about cars as a status symbol in nyc discourse is that if you’re in manhattan taking a car is usually a lot slower. even in the denser parts of the other boroughs it makes more sense to take the train

@classic_fb I have also lived in both & I disagree. June/ July/ August DC is probably worse & none of those are nearly as bad as NYC in the summer. Concrete is a massive heat sink & night offers 0 relief. 95, 100% humidity at 3am is soul crushing.

@TaijiBrian I lived there for 4 years but I’ve spent more time in the SE and would much rather take DC over Georgia/SC lol

I really want Louisville City to be a fierce regional rival for Nashville SC but since we live in the worst timeline & they can't be & I will just continue to admire them from afar. That Club has always played well & done things right.

Totsch tucked it home. Showtime for Showunmi. And just like that, #LouCity pulled off a Major League "Cupset" vs Austin FC. Here's how both goals and the final whistle of @loucityfc's historic win over an MLS side sounded on @ESPN680!

It’s amazing how a simple thing, like building around a river, rather than destroying it, can make your city famous. Everyone talks about the riverwalk in San Antonio. We like water, it’s pretty simple. Why aren’t we doing this in more places?

the people who want NYC to be a car city should just move to anywhere else in America tbh. it takes a special level of entitlement to want the one dense walking city in the US to be a parking lot, when you have your pick of parking lot cites to choose from.
fully fund transit@crosstown_line

if you want NYC to be a car city, you’ve got to at least stick to your script… so which is it? is driving everywhere a sign that you’ve made it in NYC? or are cars the vehicle of the humble working class family struggling against bike-loving, soy-eating transplants?

“In 1903, the biggest industry in the world was whaling. It disappeared almost overnight.” Jimmy Carr dropped this on the Joe Rogan podcast and it made me rethink how fast entire economies can vanish. Whaling collapsed in about 18 months once petrochemicals replaced whale oil. The same thing happened with horse manure in New York City — the streets were literally covered in it, brownstones had steps to stay above the filth, and laws couldn’t fix it. Then Henry Ford’s cars arrived, and within a few years the horses (and the problem) were basically gone. Carr’s point: the resources and industries we treat as permanent today can disappear shockingly fast when something better comes along. What “essential” industry or resource of today do you think could vanish in the next 20 years?

Además de su identitaria pisada de pelota, siempre me encantó con la agresividad que Riquelme usaba el cuerpo para protegerla. Se abría de piernas y brazos, a lo Redondo, pero sin tener exuberancia física.

Food trucks used to sell you 3 of the best tacos you've had in your life for $5 cash only and then people with Masters degrees started buying them and now it's 3 of the worst tacos you've had in your life for $18.50 plus a recommended 20% tip
