If your inner circle isn’t talking about – security before tokenomics – distribution before TGE – infra before marketing – retention before hype – and who’s actually building It might be time to change rooms.

@hagaetc @Dune Interesting to see AI fluency becoming a baseline signal now. It’s quickly moving from “nice to have” to table stakes in many technical roles.

At @Dune we did 300 candidate interviews in March. A massive effort from our < 10 hiring managers. Here is some of the stuff we do to ensure we find exceptional candidates: - All interviews scored 1-4. Deliberately no "middle score". At least one interviewer needs to give a 4/4 and be a champion for the candidate. Straight 3's will not yield an offer. We are after exceptional people. We think of the Dune team as a pro sports team and if you want to win you need someone exceptional in every position. Good enough is not good enough, and if there is doubt there is no doubt. - We check for AI fluency. If you are not hands on AImaxxxing and exploring how AI changes your domain we won't hire you. - Me or Mats Olsen always do the last interview to ensure everyone candidate is exceptional and adhere to the Dune's values. We will absolutely disqualify technically exceptional people based on culture/values mismatch. If you don't want to work hard or have low integrity you simply can't join Dune. - We are absolutely uncompromising on comprehensive reference checks. This is incredibly important. Not just doing the checks but pushing hard, asking though questions and drill deep into any cracks. If anything seems fishy or off we run for the hills. We have several times dropped giving an offer to candidates we thought we would due to things feeling off with references. If this sounds like a system you would pass with flying colors we are hiring for backend/analytics/platform/data engineers, account executives and product marketing manager. Bonus points if you've worked with enterprise data products in the past. Link below, lfg!

Some of our best hires were totally unqualified on paper. They always had the same qualities: entrepreneurial, high agency, smart, mission aligned, and they got shit done. If you’re hiring, especially in early stages, seek out & bet on these people. Don’t over-index on resumes.

How to Go From Nervous and Terrible at Interviews to Getting Job Offers 1. Write down 3-5 quick stories about your wins and review them 10 minutes before the interview. 2. When they ask about challenges, they're really asking if you're resilient, answer what they actually want to know. 3. Rehearse your answers loud with a friend or AI tool so you catch the stumbles before the real thing. 4. Ask smarter questions, like "What does success look like in this role six months from now?" shows you're thinking long-term and gives you useful intel. 5. Read something aloud for 5-10 minutes beforehand so you don't sound tight, shaky, or robotic when you introduce yourself. 6. When nerves hit, take a sip of water, shake out your hands, pause to breathe; remind yourself it's a conversation, not a trial. 7. Recap one specific thing from the conversation in your closing, so they remember you. After every interview, write down what worked and what didn't; every attempt makes you sharper for the next one. This is called tactical preparation.

*This role may not exist in 12 months. ☠️ Software engineers building to make software engineering obsolete. If anyone tells you they have complete clarity of how the world will be a year from now, they are lying! Exciting and scary at the same time. But those who keep up with the latest tech, build, and innovate, will always have work!

Someone asked what's the most underappreciated quality in startup founders. I realized I could answer this by asking what's the most underappreciated aspect of startups. That's easy: how hard they are. So the most underappreciated quality in founders is sheer toughness.

Crypto Twitter wouldn't feel so dead if: - Communities existed for reasons beyond price - People talked about actual products - Engagement wasn't just farming for paid deals - People followed builders, not just KOLs The culture follows the incentives.
