If a @transport_wales is delayed by 20minutes, and I arrive after my connection time but the @AvantiWestCoast is also delayed by 20minutes so I managed to get on, which of you do I claim delay repay to?
@SheilaHarries@Clarek56@cm_bagot@CrossCountryUK Then the next service would be packed and defeats your original post on bringing in reservations only, hence why I said it's not practical to do it
@Twingram86@Clarek56@cm_bagot@CrossCountryUK The same way you usually do when a train is cancelled. Your ticket is valid on alternative routes to the same destination. But we hope this is an exception.
@SheilaHarries@Clarek56@cm_bagot@CrossCountryUK And if that time specific train was cancelled, how would you intend to get to where you wanted to go? In theory it would be ideal, but practically it's not possible to have reserved only services
@Twingram86@Clarek56@cm_bagot@CrossCountryUK Thank you for explaining. I think at times of high demand it would be prudent to make bookings time specific. If I was going on a long one-off journey I would be happy to commit to this if it guaranteed my seat.
@SheilaHarries@Clarek56@cm_bagot@CrossCountryUK Anytime and offpeak aren't restricted to one specific train, train companies can't forsee if everyone ends up getting same service, plus delays and cancellations can occur making the next available service along the route extra busy then usual aswell
@Clarek56@cm_bagot@CrossCountryUK Is there no limit on the number of tickets sold on long haul journeys? If not, perhaps there should be. We made this trip many years ago, and it was no picnic even when not overcrowded.
@citygrlfitness@CrossCountryUK You should have an email confirmation from the company at time of purchase, it'll have a pdf copy attached of the ticket aswell
Can you help @CrossCountryUK - my train caught fire at Derby so couldn’t complete journey as evacuated, I have a ticket from Trainline but refusing to pay compensation as the ‘QR code greyed out’ - I can’t change their app and there is no other ticket!!
@PrincessSiobhan@CrossCountryUK Compensate is due on the destination on your ticket and not the intermediate station you change at. Xc was late and you missed your connection. The delay repay claim will be valid for that journey.
@CrossCountryUK That’s not really my point. So you only get compensation if you have a missed connection. What about just being 29 minutes late to where you need to be? Thinking that length of delay is acceptable is wild!
Delay Repay is normally offered if your train is >15mins late. Not @CrossCountryUK! Train is 25mins late, I’ve missed my next train I had reservations on & next train is over an hr away. But apparently that’s ok, as I can only get compensation for over 30mins!! What the hell?! 🤯
Oh I do like to be beside the seaside. I'm that lucky I get to go twice. Yes, Blackpool twice in a day. Anyway, all my @northernassist services are booked to run as normal and are all fully formed
@CrossCountryUK Thanks. It would be very good if someone announced that on the train itself. I've been in carriage C since just before 9pm and the silence from your company is deafening. I assume there is a driver as the engine is running and has been pumping out diesel fumes since before 9pm
@alexhornbyrail@AlexHynes Theres quite a few shortformed services out today @alexhornbyrail on a bank holiday weekend. I've got a 2 car 195 to Barrow and back vice a 3 car. Surely we have enough units on a bank holiday weekend to run services properly.
Apologies if you were caught up in these issues today. We’ve had some challenges with crew availability. Apologies from us all at Northern, and thanks for your patience. My appreciation, also, to teams working hard today in the heat keeping our customers on the move.
Nice one @AvantiWestCoast, conductor says "we've arrived to Glasgow Central a few minutes early, so we're just waiting for our platform"
Somehow got in 5 minutes late. As a result of arriving early.
Thank you for making me sprint across the station to make my connection 👍
Todays view from the @northernassist#mobileoffice is a new one. This is looking towards Lostock Junction. The 1756 Blackpool North-Manchester Airport can be seen departing from Lostock. There has been many proposals about building platforms on the route towards Wigan
Hi @AvantiWestCoast I’m on the 20:34 from Manchester Piccadilly to London and so many people have bags on seats. Can you get someone to make an announcement? Not everyone is confident enough to ask people to move their bags.
@AvantiWestCoast@Bobby_Martin Don't hardly see any guards doing checks in standard now, all they're bothered about is doing standard premium for the commission
@Bobby_Martin Hi Rob, sorry to hear that. If you can mention this to a member of staff as they pass through the service, they may be able to make an announcement for this - Mike

@sarah_church@AvantiWestCoast@CrossCountryUK@GWRHelp Interesting. The 10:18 was delayed 21 minutes at Preston. West Coast Delay Repay is 30 minutes. Everything else was, as far as I can see, missed connections. So sadly you’re not due anything which is why your claim would have been rejected.
I was booked on 10.18 preston-Chippenham yesterday & arrived an hour late due to disruptions. Booked journey was preston-Wolverhampton @AvantiWestCoast W’hampton-Bristol @CrossCountryUK Bristol-Chippenham @GWRHelp who is responsible for my delay/repay?Avanti rejected my claim🤷♀️
