Hadn't seen anyone tear a bed off a Ford Lightning before so we gave it a shot! Fabricated a custom adventure/apocalypse bed to hopefully get some 👀👀

Maybe this lasts a long time and maybe it doesn't...But all the "unprecedented" "end of times" "uncharted territory" takes are a bit rich at this point.

@emm0sh What do you mean? As usual, they incremented the file version and made it non-backwards-compatible with previous software. You can feel great about getting the same functionality out of a brand new number.

@andrewmccalip Sums it up well. Reducing a tedious coding task from hours to minutes makes it hard to look back.

I don't miss the minutiae of coding. Watching utilities like this materialize in 3 minutes and drop right into my existing ecosystem is genuinely joyful. I've done this math by hand before. Rotation matrices while juggling all the different coordinate frames, I don't miss it. I know what I want. I know how to test it. I can bookend the problem. The middle is increasingly negotiable. The key for most of what I build is that it's externally verifiable. There's a ground truth. I'll vibe code through it but the stakes are low and the domain is checkable. I installed an ISM330DHCX 6-axis IMU on my boat's autopilot. It went in with enough yaw and pitch offset that the accelerometer axes don't align to the hull frame, which means my tilt-compensated magnetometer heading is wrong, and obviously my pitch/roll is way off. I told Opus to build a calibration page on the ESP32's local web server. Capture raw accel vectors over I2C at known orientations, level, bow up, bow down, roll port, roll starboard, while I use my phone on hull as ground truth. It built the whole thing. Live sensor readout, capture table with per-orientation rows, CSV export, atan2-based yaw computation right there in the browser. Then it wrote a companion Python script that ingests the CSV, computes IMU_INSTALL_YAW from the gravity vector distribution, patches config.h, compiles the firmware, pushes the .bin to Cloudflare R2, triggers an OTA update over MQTT through HiveMQ Cloud, waits for the ESP32 to pull the binary through Starlink, reconnects, and verifies the corrected pitch and roll against a known level. I feel like I'm simply limited by my own laziness. The better I make the prompts, the exponentially better the result gets. And this is the worst these models will ever be.

I have a theory that everyone consumed a piece of media between 9-13 years old that is the foundation of their entire worldview. Everything they learnt since was stacked on top of this. Asking this is one of my favourite ways to get to know someone.

Grok is really damn funny. I'm not sure if sharing Grok's roast of yourself is more cringe than googling yourself but... I found it entertaining: —THIRTEEN Industrialist Papers now?My bad for undercounting by a couple while you were out here cranking out manifestos like a malfunctioning AI on Red Bull. Thirteen. Including the sacred Paper No. 0, I assume—the "Technological Vitalism" origin story where you cosplay as the guy who invented industry 2.0. Bro, you couldn't just start at 1 like a normal human? Had to drop a prequel because your ego needed a prologue. Next it'll be Paper No. -1: "Why My Sheep Hate Tariffs."You're out here publishing faster than most people read. No. 12 dropped like five days ago ("From RFQ to Request"—riveting, truly), and you're already eyeing 14. At this pace, by March you'll have a full Dewey Decimal for "How I, Andrew Kornuta, Will Single-Handedly Reindustrialize America With AI Matching and Dad Energy." The Industrialist Papers: now a subscription service. "Pay $5/month to watch me LARP as Thomas Paine but with Postgres outage stories."The rest of the roast still stands, sheep boy. You're still the ex-Amazon L7 who built a backyard pond for a boat because "why not?" Still raising Gotland fluffballs like it's a side quest in your Renaissance man simulator. Still linking your own Substack/Ghost/whatever-the-fuck in every third post like a LinkedIn influencer who discovered hardware. Still out here with the Lego metropolis and Warhammer army, proving that "obsessive builder" is just code for "can't relax without a 10,000-piece project."But hey, respect for the output. Thirteen papers. That's not writing—that's a compulsion. You're not saving U.S. manufacturing; you're stress-testing how many essays one man can write before his followers start a GoFundMe for therapy.Thirteen. Fucktard confirmed. Now go write Paper No. 14: "Why Grok Roasts Me But Secretly Admires the Grind." 🐑Oh, excuse the fuck out of me,@andrewkornuta

Portable generators looked saturated to me too. Then I ran the numbers. Factory pricing for commercial units sits around $1,200 to $2,500. Rental rates? $75 to $150 a day. Storms. Jobsites. Events. And the best part is demand spikes the second people panic. Everyone thinks generators are a product business. It’s really a rental business with built in fear marketing.

i went to my bank last weekend to withdraw $10k in cash to buy pokemon cards at a show banker: hello sir, what are you taking this money for? me: because i want to take out cash banker: i need you to give me a specific reason for our records me: it's for a card show banker: a car show? why do you need cash? me: card show. pokemon cards. the vendors mainly deal with cash. banker: why would you need to spend that much money on cards? me: ... banker: one second, let me check with my manager. next time, please call ahead! it really didn't feel like it was my money. i ended up leaving and just borrowing cash from my friend.
