Short 🧵following some checking of our smart meter data from before and after our @JASolarOfficial #solar panel and @GivEnergy #battery install. Comparing the 7 days usage before the install against the 7 days after. As it would happen, consumption was the same at 135kWh.

@HullTeslaModel3 @Eddystone506 We installed battery and solar about four years ago. I haven't done the sums recently but some man-maths tells me that we have recouped most in not all of the investment. I didn't view it that way though. We had savings and the ROI was better on the roof than the best savings.

@Eddystone506 Every time I think about it, I do the self same calculations, and I come up with the same answer, it would take well over 8 years to recoup the install cost. Cannot make it make financial sense. And we're heavy users, almost 12,000kWh per annum.

Homeowner in the UK? Register with the Land Registry for email alerts about the title to your property. With a rise in probate fraud scams by organised crime gangs it's free, takes a couple of minutes and well worth it. propertyalert.landregistry.gov.uk/propertyalert/

@Dowen1979 @danny_robins I had that podcast on during my morning walk this morning too. For some reason, it didn't take as long as it normally does!

@OctopusElectro Thanks for the update. That's disappointing but I know that it's out of your control. I've been feeding back to @GRIDSERVE_HQ at every opportunity but it's clear that this is not a priority for them so I won't waste my time. I just use the CPO that does partner with you instead

@Yorkie71 Unfortunately, the plan at the moment is for it to be only available for Fleets users. However, user feedback is powerful, so let them know that you would like them to be available for general consumers, as we would love to have as many operators on our platform for our users. ⚡

@OctopusElectro That's sort of good news but for the majority of consumers, it's not. Are there plans to open this to general consumers? I can't understand the reluctance given that other CPOs don't seem to have had an issue. 🤷‍♂️

@KateFantom The savings make it a no-brainer don't they? I'm assuming this is home charging at 7p/kWh. I'm interested in how it would compare if the owner only had public charging available. More expensive or around the same as diesel? Public charging is still too expensive IMO.

Based on my daily average mileage and the UK’s average price of diesel, this electric van will save us £6800-£7200 annually on diesel alone. Add some servicing, discs and pads and a clutch with DMF and we’ll have a free van after 4 years 👌🏼

@_james_gee_ I do love a good EV road trip. We have just done our annual 400 mile Lancaster to St Ives trip. No charge queues. Two charge stops in which both, the car was recharged plenty way before the human was. Safe journey.

Did someone sayyy… road trip? 📍🔋🛣️ Over 500 electric miles incoming tomorrow; how many charging queues, battery fires and breakdowns are we thinking? 🙃

@JoeBaguley Haha yes. Funny should say that. We walked past a cafe today where the waitress was going to great lengths to explain the jam-first protocol. I got the impression that if they went cream-first it would not go down well! 😂

@OctopusElectro Hi team, what's the issue with the favourites section of the app? It's been like this for days and I can't add or view any favorite chargers.

@AsdaServiceTeam You've recently updated your grocery shopping app. The user experience much worse than the previous version. The favorite function is not great plus all the previous favourites were removed. Also, the delivery location didn't work. Where can I provide feedback?

@BeyondRadio Looks great. Do you have any plans to transmit on DAB again? When driving up to the Lake District, the FM signal cuts out at J36 so I have to switch to Magic or Radio 2 and that's nowhere near as good.

@speak2thegeek @sarah_go_green @OctopusEnergy @g__j I dread to think how much additional energy is being consumed to create the current trend of all these action figure posts I'm seeing in my feeds. On top of that, all the personal data that is being readily fed to the machine.

I was scrolling through jobs @OctopusEnergy last night when I couldn't sleep. Do you think this would swing it if I sent it in with my CV or would it be kind of a step too far? 😆👀 Well if the kids do off to collage in September I'll be given my P45 as head of school. 🤓

@Bishop_Beesley @Ed_Miliband Thanks for taking the time to reply. I respect that and I also respect your opinion. It just happens to be the wrong one. 🙂 But thanks for the laugh. That really was one of the most amusing and nonsense things I've read in a while. Have a great day.

A coal plant has a much smaller footprint than solar or wind to produce the same level of energy. Saving field and the bunny rabbits etc that live in them. They don't require a fraction of the energy to build than wind or the level of poisonous materials - solar. They can use existing power networks obviating the need for more land to be taken. Because they're reliable and self covering (say 2 out of 3 turbines always on) they don't need gas back-up like solar and wind. And they have great side products, CO2 that can be piped to commercial greenhouses to promote food productions, waste heat likewise, fly ash to make insulation blocks for building and filtered out harmful chemicals go to the chemical industry.

1/Energy bills are set to rise again due to a spike in global gas markets, with wholesale gas prices up 15% since the last energy price cap was announced. This will put up energy bills because of our reliance on global fossil fuel markets controlled by petrostates and dictators.

@Ed_Miliband Energy bills are set to rise because you're spending our money on renewable schemes that are hopelessly unreliable in this country. Our bills are also rising because you refuse to build reliable, inexpensive and strangely enough good for the environment coal plants. Just resign
