As you continue to expel individuals that should have never been allowed to enter, please know that PhD and MD holding Iranian have lost their jobs due to USCIS pause. Majority of those jobs were open to non-citizens because they were not filled by citizens in the first place.

In 2014, the Obama Administration granted visas to her son and his family to enter the United States. In June 2016, the Obama Administration gave them lawful permanent resident status via the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. This week, I terminated their lawful permanent resident status and today, Seyed Eissa Hashemi, Maryam Tahmasebi, and their son are now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending their removal from our country. Her family should never have been allowed to benefit from the extraordinary privilege of living in our country. America can never become home for anti-American terrorists or their families - and under the Trump Administration, it never will.

As an Iranian, I want to thank @SecRubio for finally taking real action and deporting the children of regime criminals.
While our people are suffering and dying in Iran, the sons and daughters of those who took Americans hostage, ruined our country, and destroyed millions of lives should not be living safely and comfortably in the United States.
The green cards of Larijani’s daughter and Ebtekar’s son have been revoked. Good. But that’s not enough.
Many more are still here living freely on American soil. Some of the most well-known ones:

Leila Khatami, daughter of Mohammad Khatami
Zahra Mohaghegh, daughter of Ayatollah Mostafa Mohaghegh

Secretary Rubio, please finish the job.

Trump is now attacking immigrants who are lawfully in the US but not yet citizens, denying them publicly subsidized housing, commercial driver’s licenses, and access to bank and business loans. Their US citizen family members are also hurt. trib.al/Z61b2PM

We totally did. But USCIS has put a blanket pause on ALL Iranian applications, including students, scholars, doctors, etc. We entered LEGALLY and stayed legally and followed EVERY rule. Only to be punished for our birth place. How is that fair?

We followed that path, but we’re being forced to leave because of our nationality. I am a professor, came here as a PhD student and now my Green Card application and H1b is not being processed, I am loosing my legal status after about 8 years!

My message to the U.S. government on CBS: stop talking about a fake “regime change” in Iran.
Any negotiation that says nothing about executions, political prisoners, mass repression, and internet blackouts is not about the Iranian people. It’s about saving a regime that is killing them.
You call them “reasonable” and “less radical.”
We call them what they are: killers.

I never thought I’d be writing this tweet.
I was laid off.
For most people that’s a scary moment. For me, it’s a countdown.
I’m on a visa. No job means out of status. Out of status means leaving. Leaving means saying goodbye to years of my life, the friends I’ve made, the work I’ve poured myself into, the future I came here to build.
And right now, with everything happening around immigration, that goodbye feels closer than ever.
I have a CS PhD and have spent years working on AI, ML, deep learning, and computer vision. I’m open to full-time roles, internships, PhD positions, or postdocs.
I’ve never asked the internet for help before. I’m asking now.
