@ezraklein It only matters if you control the flow of information like Fox News or NYT. What was it that you said in the election cycle in NYT..."Was the first Trump admin that bad?"

One of the real advantages Democrats have going into 2026 is that Trump seems to genuinely believe his presidency is going great.

The most likely outcome is that AI and robots make everyone wealthy. In fact, far wealthier than the richest person on Earth 👀 By this, I mean that people will have access to everything from medical care that is superhuman to games that are far more fun that what exists today. We do need to make sure that AI cares deeply about truth and beauty for this to be the probable future.

JUST IN: Elon Musk says AI and humanoid robots will "eliminate poverty" and "make everyone wealthy."

@MaartenDik @IREN_Ltd @danroberts0101 I'm curious how he's speaking for the entire industry? You can start from scratch today and build a data center out with POD within 2 years in my area. He must be referring to rural areas that they build in.

Daily reminder that gun deaths are completely a choice. Nobody dies from guns in the rest of the functioning world. It’s like dying from a fever. An ancient plague that we have solved as a species and moved on from. Except if you live in the United States.

Tomorrow, I'm talking with @billmckibben & @jamieclimate about climate activism in the age of Trump. They are trying to launch a new phase, wherein activists rally *for* clean energy projects, not just *against* dirty energy. Got any questions?

As of August 2025, no new nuclear power plants have begun construction since January 20. However, at least 6 US projects have been announced: New York's 1 GW advanced plant (June), Last Energy's 600 MWe microreactor site in Texas (Feb), Natura's two 100 MWe molten salt reactors in Texas (Feb), Core Power's floating plant (Jan), and Utah's nuclear expansion (Jan). Globally, Kazakhstan plans up to 3.

The ceaseless repeating from the media, politicians and activists claiming that climate change is making weather more dangerous and severe is just nonsense. That is just NOT true.

In just the past 12 months, China has installed 464 GW of solar capacity. That's nearly double the total U.S. solar capacity (239 GW). Coal is the fourth most consumed source of primary energy in the U.S., after natural gas, oil, and renewables. Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) measured as lifetime costs divided by energy production: • Nuclear: $182/MWh • Gas Peaking: $169/MWh • Coal: $118/MWh • Geothermal: $85/MWh • Gas Combined Cycle: $76/MWh • Solar PV-Utility: $61/MWh • Wind-Onshore: $50/MWh Coal consumption has dropped 64% since its peak in 2005. It is not the future. We need a LOT more energy generation if we're gonna power all of these massive upcoming AI compute data-centers. If America does not invest heavily in these areas, we risk falling behind. Expanding renewable energy capacity and grid-scale battery storage should be a top priority right now. America is more ready for further investment in solar and batteries than you might think.
Zach Cordero@Cordero91Z

@SawyerMerritt Coal is indeed the moment. We are not ready for a transition to solar and batteries. Coal will continue to be the moment until we are ready.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced today that it will be closing down by the end of the year following the passage of a rescissions package earlier this month. My team and I are still figuring out what this announcement will mean for Alaska Public Media, but rest assured that I will not back down when it comes to public broadcasting. When I return home this month, I will spend time with public broadcasters across the state to assess their needs and chart a path forward. The programming and emergency alerts these stations provide to communities throughout Alaska are vital, and I won’t give up until they receive the support they need.
