@AdamMGrant Agree on not pressuring kids. That said, as someone who's hired many folks, one signal I look for in early careers is a willingness to push through tough problems. There are some majors (and other activities!) that demonstrate this much better than others.

@edwinarbus I've had a couple Clear Plus free trials and didn't see the benefit. Like your anecdote, I often found myself waiting longer than regular precheck - and with more hassle.

At EWR they let me choose from: - CLEAR Plus with PreCheck - CLEAR Plus - Premier Access - Star Alliance Gold Track - PreCheck - Standard I used the CLEAR Plus with PreCheck lane, which was much slower than PreCheck. We must reign in the lane inflation.

.@ring refused to cancel sending a fire truck after a mistaken CO alarm test. They claim “the regulations where you live require the fire dept to check every CO alarm.” No such law here, and fire dept canceled when I called directly. Burdening users and fire depts needlessly.

@Austen Similar to how I learned HTML, CSS, and (basic) JS as a teenager: seeing things I liked on websites, grabbing the code, and figuring out how to adapt it to my own uses.

I think the future of learning to code starts with having AI build things for you then learning what AI is doing and how to optimize it/fix it. Honestly that’s the way most of the best coders learn: you try to get x working then learn the theory behind when it doesn’t.
Tete Recinos@TeteRecinos

@Austen How do you see the process of learning how to program from now on? I see a lot of people claiming that prompting for code makes learning how to code irrelevant but that doesn’t make sense to me. Surely, knowing how/what/why makes you a much better prompter, right?

@vkhosla An interesting statement. Which of the most deadly wars in history are you ascribing to religion? How do you account for Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot...?

I’m bullish on LLMs for code but this is kind of a funny/weird counterpoint that maybe it makes developers chose worse tools

@DrHughHarvey @StanfordHAI The study (to date, as described) seems to be lacking a meaningful comparison to baseline - a control group. E.g.: how deterministic is the average physician?

The tallest tree in the world, Hyperion, surpasses even famous landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Big Ben. Standing at a staggering height of 115.55 m (379.1 ft), this giant redwood in Redwood National Park, California is as tall as a 35-story building. Hyperion is estimated to be 700 to 800 years old and contain 530 m³ (18,600 cu ft) of wood.

The output from the script: • 22 + 5 = 27 (decimal) • 27 + A = 31 (hex) • The result of adding 22 and 5 in decimal, and then adding the hexadecimal number A, is 31. GPT used both of my functions to compute the final result! Here is the code: github.com/svpino/openai-…

OpenAI just introduced Function Calling. This is a killer feature! It's the most consequential update to their API since they released it. Here is an example to show you how powerful this is:

@Truphone, bought a plan for my son over 2.5 weeks ago and phone calls don't work. Customer service keeps asking for more time for the Technical Team to investigate the issue. This seems wildly slow. Can you help?
