teaching your non-engineering teammates to vibe code seems like a great idea until they start approving each others PRs

the degree to which people are completely misunderstanding Richie's subtweets about me is incredible 😂
LogoKai@KairiKicks

@richardartoul Just put them in a sandbox that has no impact to the actual work being done and you’re safe 😂 let them crash and fix their own mess lol. Baptism by fire

I set one up, it's pretty good honestly I'm mostly joking, its crazy how fast they've speed run software engineering education my PM dm'd me a P.R where he constructed a singleton client and i told him lets zoom in a few hours and ill explain how to fix it. 30m later he DM'd again: "figured it out, just learned about dependency injection"

@advaithj1 @richardartoul I think he’s saying just one code review would be enough to demonstrate to the PM that the code he generated isn’t acceptable and that the PM is wasting his time trying to do a job he doesn’t understand.

now that our PM knows how to vibecode, feels great to just say: "good idea, ping me for a code review" every time he brings me up an idea I don't feel like implementing

Post-ai engineering tracks: - Manager track: spend time coaxing results out of occasionally brilliant devs who mostly go off on technical tangents and disappoint you. - Technical track: spend time coaxing results out of occasionally brilliant agents who mostly go off on technical tangents and disappoint you.

@jaykreps We’re all PMs now, and we’re all engineers now too, and we’re also all designers now. Everyone’s a generalist, with gradients of strengths and weaknesses. The floor of expectations, and capabilities, has been raised.

People are discussing what the right ratio of PM to Eng to Designer is for a product effort post-AI. I am wondering if the right “team” structure isn’t just a single person per project rather than a team with ratios. If communication is the bottleneck, not coding, force it to the natural boundaries.

2.5 years ago ago we launched WarpStream with the promise of 90% cost and operational savings in exchange for 400ms P99 latency. Today you get the same 90% savings, but with 50ms P99. Blog post in the comments 👇

🌎 WarpStream supports multiple cloud regions on providers like AWS, GCP, and Azure. No need to worry about us-east-1 on AWS, as we have support for us-east-2 and nine AWS regions in total. View the full list 👉docs.warpstream.com/warpstream/age…

Goldsky was hitting the limits of Kafka at scale with tens of thousands of partitions and petabytes of blockchain data. By moving to WarpStream, they cut costs by over 10x, removed performance bottlenecks, and now scale seamlessly toward 100 PiBs and beyond. Read about it here 👉warpstream.com/blog/the-road-…

I think this is the first usage of strong consistency in DynamoDB global tables to make an infrastructure product built on-top of it multi-region with very minimal changes. Worth a read just for the tech details!

🌑 Entire cloud region goes dark? Your streams shouldn't. WarpStream's new Multi‑Region Clusters replicate every write across 3 regions, delivering true RPO=0 and a 99.999% uptime SLA. Never lose a record, even during region‑wide outages. Read how it works ➡️ warpstream.com/blog/no-record… #Kafka #Streaming #WarpStream

@dlamotte_ Seems to work great - WarpStream is written in Go and AFAIK we’ve had no issues. Drop in to the WarpStream slack channel and ask away!

@caleb_grillo I saw that mentioned and was going to ask. Especially since Go could be tricky. Was curious how well it works with Go?

@ancerj @DKThomp The thing about trade is there are gains from it, on both sides, so by reducing the amount of trade, you are, by definition, reducing the amount of gains. Trade isn’t zero-sum, that’s the entire point.

We really did it. We took a growing US manufacturing economy, declared it broken, started a trade war, and ... broke US manufacturing. In last 48 hours: - Philly Fed Survey: "New orders fell sharply, from 8.7 in March to -34.2, its lowest reading since April 2020" - NY Fed Survey: Expected orders and shipments plunging Again, this is a policy to revive US manufacturing.
