@miradasurfs And I can make them any size. I've got a bit of osteo arthritis in my thumbs so I make extra large picks. I've still got a few bought ones but I never use them. The home made ones feel soooo much better when playing gigs especially, I think because I feel less likely to drop them

Perhaps the simplest solution: Fill pot and tilt it as shown. Because of the symmetry of the cylinder, 3 litres of water will be left. Now fill the jug and pour 3 litres out of it into the pot (until the pot is full). Then exactly 1 litre of water will be left in the jug 🙂

@RobDrummond It's not a new thing. I felt exactly the same after my english language O level in 1980. I was blessed that my school didn't insist we take english literature.

I overheard a 16-year-old* this morning rejoicing at the fact that after today’s GCSE English Language exam, he never has to do English again. This makes me sad, as English Language/Linguistics is such a fascinating and useful subject. But the GCSE isn’t fit for purpose.

I have a problem. The music I love to listen to is at least 200 years old. Lyrics do nothing for me. (My brain cannot make sense of words and music at the same time.) What new music is worth listening to, purely on the beauty (yes, beauty) of the music alone?
