@happyhexer @wideawake_media I like that idea. The family of Val Kilmer is going to get royalties on a computer generated deep fake movie staring deceased Val Kilmer. They are using home movies rather than feature films to train the AI, so they can get a more real/natural version of him.

Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison delivers a sales pitch for his company's new AI-monitored body cameras, which live stream footage back to headquarters and cannot be turned off. "Citizens will be on their best behaviour, because we're constantly recording and reporting everything that's going on." "These are the kind of next generation systems we can build using AI."

@zalaly @danaludwig @EricTopol @bmj_latest @Biostayan 36-81% is a wide range...? But it's much too large a number. Insurance not covering it is a big issue. My understanding has been that side effects are generally minor and usually don't lead to discontinuing use. I hope everybody who needs it gets the opportunity to use it.

@happyhexer @wideawake_media Now or yesterday. It's shocking to think they won't even pass the no-brainer laws. For example, it is still perfectly legal to post a deep fake of someone without revealing that it is not real.

@danaludwig @wideawake_media We really need the federal and state governments to take action NOW to protect people's privacy. We are always behind legally in addressing concerns raised by new technology.

@TheRickWilson I wish you were right, but I don't think he's cornered. All he has to do is declare victory and leave Iran. His ratings are still high with republicans.

What does Israel and the Arabs have on Donald Trump to control him like a little f****** puppet. Cuz that's who's doing it. Don't believe the b******* media lies. This man is being blackmailed or he needs psychological help, because he lost his f****** mind.

I believed in Trump. Trusted him. Thought he’d keep America OUT of wars… not drag us into one. I bought it completely — hook, line, and sinker. But look around. We’re staring down a World War III scenario with Iran, Israel, and the Middle East exploding… And somehow, again, American lives are on the line. Our sons. Our daughters. For WHAT? Since when are we the world’s police force? This isn’t what was promised. This isn’t what people voted for. I’m done pretending everything is fine. If you’re seeing this too… If something doesn’t feel right… Speak up. Share this. People need to wake up before it’s too late. #ChrisWickNews #WorldWar3 #AmericaFirst

@happyhexer @LazarusLong13 Every few months I try to do a reality check and ask myself "is it over?". Long Covid is always the end of that questioning for me. Having "Mending Hearts" is also a huge risk. This is the latest I found on LC x.com/danaludwig/sta…
Dana Ludwig@danaludwig

@MeetJess @PaulaYScanlan For 2024, it's been counted and still horrible. Around 8.3% of EVERYONE currently has LC. So far, 41.3% have not yet recovered. jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman…

@danaludwig @LazarusLong13 Oh, I absolutely believe he was well-intentioned. He doesn't understand I'm trying 2 avoid Covid, wh/ *hasn't* gone away & remains *harmful*. Because *that's what the rest of society is telling him,* including the nurses who speak at the Mended Heart meetings: Covid = past tense.

@LazarusLong13 @danaludwig After a Mended Hearts meeting today, a guy walking out w/ me says, "I look forward 2 the day I get to see your smiling face" -- an oblique reference 2 my mask. W/o missing a beat, I say, "Not gonna happen." Then I softened it w/, "Well, maybe outdoors."

@livingdevops It doesn't run everything and the co that he worked for tried to update it (C++) to a more modern, durable form almost 40 years ago, but the C babies couldn't learn new ways, they had to keep blowing up compute environments with memory faults.

Dennis Ritchie created C in the early 1970s without Google, Stack Overflow, GitHub, or any AI ( Claude, Cursor, Codex) assistant. - No VC funding. - No viral launch. - No TED talk. - Just two engineers at Bell Labs. A terminal. And a problem to solve. He built a language that fit in kilobytes. 50 years later, it runs everything. Linux kernel. Windows. macOS. Every iPhone. Every Android. NASA’s deep space probes. The International Space Station. > Python borrowed from it. > Java borrowed from it. > JavaScript borrowed from it. If you have ever written a single line of code in any language, you did it in Dennis Ritchie’s shadow. He died in 2011. The same week as Steve Jobs. Jobs got the front pages. Ritchie got silence. This Legend deserves to be celebrated.

@livingdevops This means a lot to me. His impact is legendary. I learned C reading his book around 1978. We need a database of biographies like this. I met Cecil Hastings, inventor of polynomial approximations of sin/cos/etc.

@FeralHeather @tut_tut_tut_tut I agree. When I was obsessed with an ex girlfriend, silence didn't help; I would just try another txt/email in a few months. "I found someone" would really have work for me!

@tut_tut_tut_tut I get that, but genuinely afraid he would show up at my house and knock on the door if I didn’t make clear he isn’t invited. That is totally something he would do

Well well well…if it isn’t Mr. Firefighter I dumped 2 months ago hoovering. What can I say that is brief & devastating that will get him to leave me alone? “I have work” which is true but that seems like it will keep the door propped open that I want locked.

Dumped him. He didn’t do anything majorly wrong, but our values & communication styles are misaligned. There was a reason we broke up years ago. Sad because he is a lot of fun, other than his Peter Pan syndrome & lack of communication skills. Be free, slutty firefighter fish

@TS_Secrets The question is not what the $80K bought, but what is the long term price of not getting the degree? The system is broken (Europeans get college for free), but that's how I read it.

Hector Resendez - Trade School Secrets
My neighbor spent about $80k on his son’s college finance degree. His son graduated, filled out 105 applications, and couldn’t land a finance job. Right now, he’s managing a Jimmy John’s while he “waits for a break.” Then my neighbor said, “I’m going to introduce him to some of my friends so he can get an entry-level role.” And it hit me. If the outcome is still who you know, not what you studied… what exactly did the $80k buy?

@NobelPrize It's so fascinating to follow him. I remember not taking time to learn RL because his team only used it (then) for games. But the protein folding problem...I knew that was the holy grail since around 1972, and they nailed it. I'm so glad they proved it was solvable.

“Timing is very important. You need to pick hard problems to solve and be ambitious with them. But you've also got to pick the right time when the world and the context that you're in is the right kind of environment for those ideas to flourish.” In his official Nobel Prize interview, Demis Hassabis discussed how his aspirations as a young gaming programmer were ahead of their time.
