Chicagoans please listen! Crime isn’t down . In Bronzeville. Right outside a Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins, gunfire erupted in the middle of the day. Multiple people were shot, including an 8-year-old child. Storefront windows were blown out. Families were running for their lives. And this is a place where elderly citizens come to sit, talk, and even play chess. Think about that. A place that should feel safe for seniors, for families, for kids, turned into a crime scene in seconds. This is what “safe” looks like in today’s Chicago. And it didn’t stop there. At least 14 people were shot , 2 of them killed , in just one weekend. According to CBS News, the first fatal shooting happened Friday evening, a 42-year-old man got into an argument, was shot multiple times, and later died. The second fatal shooting happened late Saturday night on the West Side. Police found a man shot in the head, he didn’t survive. And this isn’t isolated. NBC Chicago reported shootings surged across the city in March, including 32 shootings in just one week. Thirty-two shootings. In one week. So when people tell you crime is down, ask them: for who? Because it’s not down for the families losing loved ones. It’s not down for the parents afraid to let their kids outside. It’s not down for the seniors who just want a safe place to sit and enjoy their day. This is what failed leadership looks like. For years, the Democratic Party has controlled this city, and what do we have to show for it? More violence. More fear. More communities being left behind. They’ve had the power. They’ve had the resources. And they’ve failed Chicagoans. We must refuse to accept this as normal. We need real accountability. We need law and order. We need leadership that puts Chicagoans first,not politics, not agendas, not excuses. Because right now, people don’t feel safe. Yesterday, a girl in the cafeteria at my job told me out of nowhere that she is back with her ex after they’ve been apart 16 years. I just found this quite coincidental since you posted this yesterday too. What’s up with the 16 year rebound? She said he was in jail too so he’s been clean 🙄 of course he has: he’s in jail. Tom may be a very nice guy, and I would love to meet him, but both of you should probably take it slow. A lot can change in 16 years (for the good or bad). I want to see you happy, Rigo, you deserve it. ❤️
