i'm not sure by what metrics the Freestyle machines are underperforming — i'm sure they're real! — but i'll say that i've been to totally forgettable movies where I still remember what soda I got

Great thread on the Coke Freestyle machine. Lots of potential and hype, but I think anyone would admit it's underperformed well below their expectations. I know a number of restaurants that used and moved away. To be fair, Pepsi had a similar issue with their Spire machine.

@IgnatzHaderach have you tried antihydral? german cream used by climbers and foosball players. takes a few days to work but once it does you only have to re-dose once or twice a week.

@the_jeffers @GreenTextRepost I did the math. A game cube averages 22 watts of power per hour, that's 197.22 Kilowatts anually if left on 24/7. In 2026 power costs $.15/kWh on average, which would mean it costs ~$30 annually today or ~$16 annually back in 2001. Memory cards went for ~$30 back then.
