@Theholisticpsyc Ok, but let‘s not overdramatise it either. Even if you contact them because you want a different outcome and you are disappointed it’s not a trauma you’ll never recover from

@nntaleb I think the bias is that one “over”-overestimates probability. Nobody can tell if an event occurs with 0.1 or 0.2 % probability, but if he thinks that it’s 5 % it’s definitely an overestimation

Huge.
Daniel Kahneman acknowledging publicly that Prospect Theory does not work under fat tails (or unknown probabilities), hence there is no "bias" in these circumstances.

@Theholisticpsyc I guess that the point of the article is the void use of psycho gibberish to leave a person, not the dynamic between them
English

Lots of people asking me to weigh in on this. My thoughts:
1. A vast majority of people wouldn’t be able to communicate this, which is why most people ghost friends or people they’re seeing, so I give credit for at least somewhat communication.
2. This article completely leaves out what dynamics were going on in the friendship. Abuse or codependency in friendships is very real. If you’ve experienced this, you understand.
3. At 24 years old relationships end, shift, and grow as we evolve. The end of a friendship doesn’t mean anyone is bad or wrong. It’s part of life. We tend to believe friendships should or need to last forever— this isn’t the case. It’s not always selfish to choose to end a relationship. Sometimes, it’s actually the healthiest choice we can make for everyone involved.
4. It *is* compassionate to tell someone you can’t support them in the way they need or that they should seek therapy/professional help if you see them in cycles or patterns where they’re seeking you to fulfill a therapist role.
5. If someone asks you to explain why they’re ending a relationship and they say “there’s no room for discussion” (assuming abuse isn’t present) they’re likely highly avoidant. Would you want to keep a friendship with someone who wasn’t capable of this? Or who didn’t open up the conversation until they were at a breaking point? Likely not.
6. Of course a face to face conversation would have been much better. This is assuming both friends are capable of open mature communication.
7. The end of relationships is very painful experience. We’ve all been through it. And usually in the end, after a grieving and processing period it begins to make sense.

@heykahn What it's definitely sure is that AI already created a cottage industry of people explaining what AI will create.

@Theholisticpsyc There is however a thin line between setting boundaries and being unfriendly. People used to please may set unnecessary boundaries in the learning phase und suddenly find themselves in the asshole role.
