I know I'm late to the party on this, but there is a game that you can use to learn using a cheap keyboard and a cable to plug it into your PC :) it's called Rocksmith+ fair warning though, it's subscription based. But it has lessons, scales, and a pretty big selection of songs to learn!

Speaking as a metalworker, I can say without a doubt the fire heated up the steel enough to weaken the tensile strength of the support beams, tensile strength is what defined the strength the steel has to protect from bending. However, what tensile strength does not take into account is crush pressure. It's like the titan submersibles carbon fiber hall, insane tensile strength, terrible crush resistance. So what happened is. The fire heated up the metal to the point that it literally crushed itself, which would not only cause the molecules in the metal to superheat, and also appear to have melted.
