This was a nuanced situation, mistakes were made on both sides, and Renee Nicole paid the ultimate price. It didn't have to end like this and it could have been avoided if either of them had acted differently. Regardless, unless we are throwing presumption of innocence out the window, instead of jumping to conclusions and labeling Renee as a domestic terrorist, officials should be asking the public to stop speculating about the shooter’s position and to cool things down by emphasizing that a full ballistic investigation will be conducted and presented to the public. Between blood splatter, damage to the vehicle, and available footage, official reports should be able to pinpoint and present to the public exactly where the officer and Renee were positioned at the time each shot was fired. A bullet hole on the windshield does not necessarily mean the officer was standing directly in front of the vehicle. This is my best attempt to recreate a top down view with possible bullet trajectories. What's missing here is the exact location of the driver at the time of the shot. There are many other factors to take into account, but this is the bare minimum for a legitimate investigation.
