Today, we’re focusing on government funding of more free parking. $1 BILLION+ in federal truck parking funding is now in play. In July, DOT Secretary @SecDuffy announced $275 million in immediate grants for truck parking, declaring it a "national priority." This includes $180 million for Florida alone, creating 900+ new spaces. Meanwhile, @RepBost's Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act, which was placed on the House calendar last year, would add another $755 million. This is what unified advocacy achieves. @OOIDA, @TRUCKINGdotORG, @WomenInTrucking, @TCANews, @NATSO_Inc, @FloridaTrucking, Texas Trucking Association, and dozens of other associations pushed together for years. Truck Parking Club supports these industry leaders in this fight and has been on Capitol Hill 6+ times to meet with members of Congress to discuss this important issue. We've even had the chance to sit down directly with Rep. Bost (pictured). The momentum is real: Rep. Bost's bill has 53 bipartisan co-sponsors and the current administration has clearly recognized the issue and taken decisive action. While we continue to unlock the 23.4 million existing private spaces, we're also helping drivers access free public parking. Drivers using Truck Parking Club's app or website can already view real-time availability at rest areas in Florida, Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan with more coming soon. We advocate for government funding because drivers need every solution—both paid and free options. The parking shortage costs drivers and fleets over $100 billion yearly in aggregate and affects every driver in some way. Solving this important issue is going to take effort from every angle.
