I'm going to ask an uncomfortable question. Why are ALL climate change rejectors on the extreme right? I want to hear from a radical lefty, proper working class activist who thinks climate change science is a scam funded by elitists who want to crush our freedom.

@RhonddaBryant No-one has yet been able to tell us how much NetZero will cost, globally, what the actual targets are, when we will get there or what happens if/when we do. It's just a fabricated point in time, a cash cow of Creosus proportions, with no plan/strategy. Someone's laughing at us.

@alexvv60 @RhonddaBryant For many of them, yes. They truly believe the balance of probability lies with all the scientists from across the globe being together in a vast conspiracy to falsify all of the data.

Taking a van to the EU as a @scouts volunteer- a thread. Buckle up! In my volunteer role in Scouting I use my D1E to support teams of younger leaders who don’t have D1 on their license as that was removed on 1st Jan 1997. I was asked to drive a 3.5tonne van to Switzerland /1

@LeedsNews Kinda irresponsible to include a quote saying cyclists don’t pay a penny to use the roads when that’s objectively untrue. Local roads are funded from council tax.

@implausibleblog Genuine question, do you in any way understand the majority of the electorate’s concern that this uncontrolled influx of undocumented individuals of (very largely) unknown origin, might constitute a security risk to the UK population?

Cathy Newman, "The UN Human Right's Chief warned the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that the new bill was a breach of the UK's obligations under international law." UNHCR, "We've been very clear that the bill breaches international law... Before Brexit the Dublin Regulation allowed transfers of asylum seekers to other European countries which was lawful.. The bill is not in line with the letter or spirit of the Refugee Convention."

It looks like Sadiq Khan will now ram through his £12.50 a day #ULEZ charge into outer London. It will disproportionately hit the Londoners who have the cleanest air, fewest public transport options, and can’t afford a new vehicle. He’s not on your side.

14% of London car journeys are under 1km. 35% are under 2km 50% are under 3km. Tell me more about how drivers of polluting motors 'can't afford' to not poison other people? #ULEZ expansion can't come soon enough.

@GeorgeWeeks2014 @jonburkeUK It’s important that we understand that these are the reasons people can’t possibly bike a couple of miles to work with nothing but themselves and a backpack.

@LondonPeteM @jonburkeUK Turns out that if you encourage active travel and local amenities that the elderly become more independent, not less. Policies don’t operate in isolation.

@jonburkeUK All the <1km car journeys in London are made by people transporting five centenarian grandmothers, four weeks' worth of shopping and a ton of cement. Have you no heart???!

@TVAddictStill @jburnmurdoch I don’t think anyone is in favour of forced retrofitting, at least not beyond that which can be done by a couple of competent people in an afternoon.

@jburnmurdoch For those specific policies. I support them too but am absolutely opposed to being forced to 'retrofit' insulation or a heat pump. That would be so disruptive I would have to move out while it happened (and find storage for everything I own). It would be a nightmare.

NEW: don’t let the ULEZ chatter mislead you. The British public is much more supportive and united on Net Zero policies than the public in peer countries, with Conservative voters frequently as green as the centre-left elsewhere on.ft.com/453oWeT

Don’t interpret a close by-election result and one poorly designed policy as Britons cooling on net zero: the British public — including Conservative voters — is fully behind ambitious green growth. Confident parties and leaders would channel those sentiments, not undermine them.
