I aligned with Duke as a child in the early 80s because every bully I ever dealt with wore a lot of baby blue. They had a sneering disdain of other teams/fans and a gargantuan sense of entitlement. If you’ve only ever pulled for the Duke of athletic prestige, please don’t become that kind of fan. The world does not need more of that.

Exactly, I wish some of the "newer" fans could sit through some of the seasons that we endured even before the first title. They are spoiled. They didn't sit through Duke getting their wheels blown off by UNLV in 90 in the title game and then coming back the next year...

Identity theft charges: no charges filed. Gun charge: indicted. He skipped court and absconded. Caught last month. New charges: • Felon in possession of a firearm • Meth possession • Cocaine possession • Two stolen vehicle charges • Fraud using 10+ stolen identities (second-degree felony) • Unlawful use of criminal instrument 19 cases since 2013. 0 jury trials.

@jeffasu @ShaneRyanHere Don't misunderstand me. I am happy when UNC loses. But at the end of the day, I'd rather have UNC win that 2005 Championship than Illinois. People know the UNC is in NC. People don't always know Duke is in NC. I will always cheer for my state. Even when it pains me.

Absolutely brutal for my UNC brothers. But again, indication of how we're built different here, some texts from my Carolina pals in last 20 minutes: "We're all Duke now" "Bring it home for Tobacco Road" "Keep it rolling for the Triangle." "Carry the flame, Blue Devils"

Speaking, as a Duke fan for 40+ years and an NC native I realize you may not have been around for just how insufferable UNC fans were when Coach K began his tenure. Loathsome creatures, they were. Their suffering is beautiful to all who witnessed it.

@ShaneRyanHere As a diehard Duke fan for 30, but a proud native son of NC, I have always thought I was a bad Duke fan for wanting to see UNC win a natty if we couldn't (maybe wanting is too strong a word). Glad to know I'm not alone on that.

I live in Texas now and I’m sure if school happened on Saturday they would do this for college football. Growing up in NC, this was a yearly occurrence. One teacher I had in Jr. High accelerated her lesson plans to free-up March for tournament viewing.
