I don’t think I’ve ever used this word on this site directed at any specific person, but after reading this, I have to: This is truly EVIL idea. This will hurt generations of innocent Iranian people more than anything. Now I’m gonna sound like some of the earlier advocates for the war: the Iranian people deserve our sympathy and we should empathize with their plight rather than support policies that will destroy their future.

If we’re all being totally and completely honest with ourselves, the Republican Party could resurrect Abraham Lincoln and even he would have an incredibly hard time winning in 2028. The pendulum is getting ready to swing. We Republicans had our time in the sun, but we decided to waste it on a 79-year-old inept moron. Now we will all watch as the midterms become a disaster and the general election even worse. Due to Donald Trump, it will take the Republican Party a decade and a half to regain any kind of national footing, and an entire new generation of conservatives must replace the old furniture and cobwebs currently overtaking Congress. Trump failed, and with his failure he has doomed us all.

Trump had a pretty clear agenda. What he couldn’t do legislatively, he saw the handwriting and did by EO. Without Congress codifying his agenda into law, it doesn’t get implemented or remain in place. Now, if you want to pin Epstein and Iran right to his lapel, fine. Agreed. But policy never got codified. DOGE never got codified. Spending didn’t decrease. DOJ prosecutions of J6/2020/COVID/Fraud never happens last year. There were no perp walks. That’s all inside baseball stuff with Congressional Republicans and deep state “resisters” running out the clock. This is more a Congress and structural soft-authoritarianism problem than a Trump problem.

Trump was the last chance to save America in its current form. There was no one else who was even campaigning on what was needed to be done. Unfortunately he got bought, intimidated, and controlled. Very sad. Core America is large, strong, powerful and aware and will endure, by any means necessary.

There will be no red state secession or national divorce. One side is going to win and destroy the other as a political force. That’s how this is going to end, with one worldview being explicitly sanctioned by the state, and the other being criminalized. You can determine through your actions which worldview will meet which fate, but you cannot determine whether or not this is going to happen. It will. There is no pluralistic future that lies before us. No libertarian dream of permanent state neutrality where gay race communism gets to live side-by-side with traditionalism. One of these worldviews WILL triumph over the other.

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.
