I worked for both John Cornyn and Ken Paxton many years ago when I was at the Texas AG's Office. Worker bee level stuff during both stints. Never met Paxton, but I got to know Cornyn a little. He would greet me by name and inquire into my welfare. John Cornyn is a good and decent man and I trust him. I will vote for him tomorrow and I'll do so again if he's on the ballot in November. If he's not, I'll happily vote for Paxton because I think James Talarico is a Marxist degenerate.

Texas Democrats have an illogical and therefore untenable view of James Talarico. Their party is secular and non-/anti-Christian, yet they indulge a fantasy that Talarico will neutralize the threat from White Christian Nationalism. How? He says church and state must be kept separate while consistently speaking in Biblical terms. It makes no real sense. He may have a messianic complex that he hasn’t successfully reconciled with his Marxist beliefs.

Talarico winning in Texas is no fantasy. He's polling better than any Dem Senate nominee at this point since 2002. Unlike O'Rourke in 2018, Talarico's ahead now. Paxton's much less popular than Cruz was. Trump is less popular now than in 2018. The GOP is right to be scared.
