@kwerb Yes, I agree. The claimed purpose to clamp down on mining is an environmental one. This cannot be dismissed that lightly. The ban on trading is a different matter.

@lukas_repa Holding crypto is not currently illegal in China, but transacting is. Absolutely there will be repercussions, and costs to China for its approach. My point is we should examine them, not just dismiss the Chinese effort as doomed.

Crypto folks dismissing China’s efforts to regulate and shape the market as futile are cute. I miss the heady days when we internet folks were young and naive like that.
