The Wuhan lab leak a red to redirect the blame to China. The U.S. shut down news stories about the BSL4 lab leak in Fort Detrick in the summer of 2019 where local authorities had to step in to force the closure of the BSL4 lab because of the rising number of suspicious pneumonia deaths in the surrounding area. The high number of pneumonia deaths in the old folks homes were dismissed by silencing the doctors and local media. Pneumonia deaths in the young became “vaping pneumonia”. The government then commissioned a spanking new BSL4 lab to replace the leaky old one. The architectural firm sent out a press release in the summer of 2019 for winning the project. Well before China announced a pandemic in 2020, Covid had already spread to Europe from Fort Detrick with American military personnel being the vector for the spread when they flew into US military bases in Europe. China was simply the first to report it when they detected it Wuhan. China had many protocols in place for detecting and handling pandemics because of the release of SARS in Hong Kong (by the Americans) in 2003. Universal healthcare was immediately prioritised and rolled out in China after SARS because the authorities didn’t want medical cost to be a barrier to quick detection in another biological warfare attack. China now has one of the best universal healthcare systems in the world with people flying into China for medical tourism.

Ah this one again. To my dear rationalist friends who are so confused as to why anyone would press the blue button: I don't want anyone's blood on my hands. "But if everyone just presses red then everyone lives" yeah but that's also true for blue, plus no complicity in murder.
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

What are your theories to why Godzilla doesn’t go to Skull Island? Why does he refuse to step in the island? Is it because of the storm itself or something else?

I had to look up the rules for this after seeing the video. Surprisingly, the frogs are treated incredibly well. Since 1933, the event has worked with wildlife officials to protect the animals. While they are at the fair, the frogs live in a specially designed Frog Spa to ensure they are comfortable. The rules also state that the jockeys cannot touch the frog once it is placed on the starting pad, so the human contestants just have to jump and shout behind them to encourage their frog to leap. What is even funnier is the history of someone trying to win unfairly with a massive frog. In 1990, an animal importer tried to game the system by bringing a team of ten-pound African Goliath frogs all the way from Cameroon. He assumed these giant amphibians would easily shatter the jumping records and crush the local competition. After a huge debate over whether this was cheating, the Goliath frogs were finally allowed to compete. However, the plan backfired. The giant frogs totally fizzled out and refused to jump far, allowing a regular local frog to take home the championship anyway.

Absolutely do not do this. Nobody will step in to help you, and if the altercation turns physical the state will persecute you. Do not put yourself in physical danger to protect the profit margin of Morrisons when they're firing their own employees for trying to prevent theft.

Part of what makes a boobytrap is both intention and knowledge. If you put that paneling on your door in a regular home upgrade, then no its absolutely not a booby trap. If you do a home alone style trick and quickly cover the metal with wood paneling when you see the home invader coming to trick him into hurting himself on it, then yes it technically is a boobytrap, a justified one.

Yes- and let me explain why. When you smash my mailbox, you’re not just smashing a piece of metal a wood. It’s an investment- time, money and energy. Time I spent at work to afford it, losing time with my family. Money I spent so my paychecks and mail would arrive safely.
Desert Citizen@DesertCity66

@Devon_Eriksen_ All this sephiroth-posting just to say you value out-group folks less than your mailbox. The punishment for vandalism being a crippling injury puts you in the barbaric camp, you realize? Of course you don’t, lol

@m00nton @92huskies @ggetzie @TwoRulesOfWar I only was against hiding cement inside the mailbox, because I think some kid is going to break his neck swinging a bat at it from a moving car. If there was some way we could magically make sure it only breaks their hands, I would say go for it.

@NewJerusalemAI @92huskies @ggetzie @TwoRulesOfWar Hey quick question If I have a metal door. And I cover it with wood panelling. And a home invader tries to kick it down (because he thinks it's a wooden door) and he breaks his foot - Is that a boobytrap?

I think Contra is someone who approaches activism very strategically with a great focus on harm reduction, and that's just not very sexy to people. Saying you need to be realistic about where we stand and what's possible *now* to bring about the change you want to see is (1/2)
Modern Rome in Freefall 🇵🇸@ljmontello

Privleged liberals like Contrapoint define wisdom as accepting the status quo because they rather prop up a system that still mostly works for them than risk facing any of the hardship they see as being for "other" people.

The bullshit tactic of Israel supporters is to pretend the bad parts of Israel are due to Netanyahu, so that once he's gone, everyone can and should go back to loving Israel. Netanyahu is fully representative of Israel. That's why he's been in power 19 years. What comes after him will be more sociopathic. Netanyahu is the by-product of the evils of that country, not the cause.

Bibi didn’t just torch support for Israel in the US; he squandered every shred of goodwill Israel ever had, made the country an international pariah, and led the slaughter of thousands of innocents. One of the most disastrous leaders any country has seen in my lifetime.

@Travis_Maynard_ @AlexDriggars What do you think privatised means? Because your image literally shows it It was given to the private sector to run for profit. Thatcher was so keen to dismantle the state that her government practically gave it away It's still owned by private companies to this day

@m00nton @AlexDriggars It was hardly privatization, in fact, govt protected private companies who "bought," rights from the govt and then came GOVERNMENT created monopolies. Exclusivity, 25 year protection, you could call it cronyism, economic fascism, but not privatization.
