So I decided to factory reset/erase my beloved 12” MacBook (early 2015) just to get a clean install of the last version of macOS 11.7.11 Big Sur that it supports
Big mistake.
Apps that used to run (like Final Cut Pro) can’t even be redownloaded from the App Store anymore because Apple requires macOS 15 or later.
That’s right: Software that I paid $300 for back in 2020 (see second image with date of purchase) that ran on this little machine (yes, I edited 4K iPhone footage on it during major events like CES, MWC, and IFA back in the day) just straight up doesn’t install anymore.
Apple doesn’t even let me install the last compatible version anymore.
There’s nothing wrong with my 12” MacBook. It should run all the software that used to work on it.
Kinda fucked up and very anti-consumer

@thorogood_simon I'm pretty sure this doesn't satisfy the ETD requirements

Well... this is embarrassing. I just discovered my UK passport expired in January. And while I have a US passport I can't use it to travel to the UK for the event I'm supposed to be at in 2 weeks. If I were just a US citizen I would get an ETA, but that's not allowed for someone with a UK passport.
It'll take a month to renew my passport.
So yeah I know it's my dumb mistake, but this isn't rocket science.
I see some sources saying I can travel in the UK with US passport and recently expired UK passport but that doesn't tell me whether I can *leave* again with the expired passport.
This whole thing recently changed on February 25th, and the only help on the subject appears to be a chatbot which acts as a search engine.
Maybe I can find a human being at the SF Consulate @UKin_SF

Microsoft Defender Experts identified a widespread ClickFix social engineering campaign in February 2026 leveraging Windows Terminal as the primary execution mechanism. Rather than the traditional Win + R → paste → execute technique, this campaign instructs targets to use the Windows + X → I shortcut to launch Windows Terminal (wt.exe) directly, guiding users into a privileged command execution environment that blends into legitimate administrative workflows and appears more trustworthy to users.
This approach bypasses detections specifically tuned to Run dialog abuse while exploiting the legitimacy and familiarity of Windows Terminal. Once the terminal is opened, targets are prompted to paste malicious PowerShell commands delivered through fake CAPTCHA pages, troubleshooting prompts, or verification-style lures designed to appear routine and benign.

This is the ASUS A14 with an OLED display, 60Hz refresh rate, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and all-day battery life thanks to Snapdragon.
Oh, and it also has five physical ports. How many do you have on the MacBook Neo?
Sure, the MacBook Neo is a big deal for the price in the Apple ecosystem, but there are plenty of good Windows 11 laptops in the same range, including the Galaxy Book Edge with a 3K Dynamic AMOLED touchscreen (it weighs just 1.16 kg!). Costs $599.
Good luck upgrading the 8GB RAM when the device starts to feel sluggish 🤭

This is the MacBook Neo's competition btw 😭

I stumbled across this project a while ago and completly forgot about it! Just ordered a sensor to see how it works.
From the github:
Features:
Automated Pressure Advanced Calibration
Nozzle Probe
All in one: No external PCB board, USB/I2C,
Compatible with E3D/Voron printers
How it works?
PA Mode: Without printing calibration lines, it just simulate extrusion pressure behavior during acceleration and deceleration while only the extruder is working. This work process is similar to the Bambu Lab A1 printer, instead, I use strain gauge, not eddy sensor.
Nozzle Probe Mode: Use the strain gauge to sense the nozzle pressure while probing. It works as a normal switch endstop sensor, so we can just power it and connect the Z- pin on the mainboard.
