@Rainmaker1973 @sciencegirl I follow you both. Her popularity could be due to her buddy icon, gender, or location (I have heard it said that the algorithm has become more location based especially recently). You are in Italy, where there are fewer x users, and posting in English.

This account @sciencegirl has never been attacked by me. The point has always been questioning the shadowbanning it has generated by posting the same contents. Now that account forgets to mention the results. Yes, I posted contents later and after, but I never reached the supremacy this account has always had. So a more correct example would be to include the results of the posts, which are orders of magnitude distant from mine.

@SandyofCthulhu What is unethical about eating whale? Whales live free whereas a the majority of cattle and poultry eaten as meat suffer in hellish environments all their lives! The meat of one whale is equivalent to 1200 pigs who have similar intelligence! クジラも食べましょう。

@AtRealBen There are fuzzy labels in the US & UK but e.g. Dr. Pepper Ten's (a low calorie version of Dr. Pepper with only 10 "manly" calories per can) slogan "It's not for Women" was met with a petition to "stop the sexism." I doubt there'll ever be backlash against "Mega Manly Plums".

@AtRealBen It's true of the images, but product linguistic claims can be fuzzy. That is because in Japan it is vision, rather than language, which is objective, real, self, and guaranteed by JGod (Takemoto & Brinthaupt, 2017). nihonbunka.com/docs/Takemoto_…

Is this actually true? Japan is so clean that you can walk around the busiest streets like Shibuya crossing and Osaka in fresh white socks and they barely get dirty? I’m going to have to try this white socks challenge myself when I visit Tokyo later this year. 😂😂

Question for Japanese X users 🇯🇵 Do shops in Japan put security tags on everyday items like food, toiletries, and basic essentials? In the UK, it’s becoming normal to see even low cost items protected due to rising shoplifting. Genuinely curious, Is this something you see in Japan, or are stores still largely trust based?

@BrianABCS Will you be coming to Yamaguchi on your bike trip? Would you like to stay in our unhygienic beach house as a way point? We don't use it any more so it is a bit manky.

@nihonbunka I am thinking of an autumn bike ride in Japan and hope the police will use common sense stop enforcing most of the rules by then. The rules look like a real sh*tshow on X.

Trending in Japan: Japanese culture lover, @haruka_no_yume's favourite shrine is Kora Taisha in Kurume, Fukuoka for the amazing view. We got married there, and had our wedding party on the shrine viewing platform in 2003. Thank you!

@VicseraT @You3_JP @kerorinex

@VicseraT @You3_JP @kerorinex なぜ?交通事故の総数も自転車による交通事故の数も減っている.自転車が占める割合が横ばいするのは当たり前で,自転車に厳しくする理由にならないと思います。

🇯🇵 Kora Taisha in Fukuoka is probably my favorite shrine in Japan. No one knows when it was founded but its first mention is in 795 AD in an historical text. The view from the shrine is amazing.

Trending today in Japan: Japanese cleaning again. I think that the Japanese actually like cleaning, more at least, than other nations as evidenced by the relative lack of Roomba, and existence of cleaning games 🎥 @dadada012312323

@nihonbunka @travelingflying Judging from that graph, you are only looking at petty theft crime numbers. Other types of serious crimes, including rape, murder, violence, scams have been exploding in numbers.

Black man is stopped by police in Japan and has his bicycle searched. He gets upset: “This is racist. Because of my skin color? Why are you stopping me, because of my skin color?” In Japan, shouting “racism” doesn’t work like in America. You need to follow the law.

It is often said that the lift on a wing is generated because the flow moving over the top surface has a longer distance to travel and therefore needs to go faster. This common explanation is actually wrong.

@lisavsworld He's right, though. In a logical sense, if God is real and created all things, that includes his culture. It's a simple fact, and ignoring it because it appears complex and inconvenient to your worldview is certainly arrogant.

I ended up in a strange conversation with a Japanese person. I do not think it was a translation error, but a heightened emotional error. He was angry and could not understand what I was saying despite me being kind and trying to agree with him. This person was complaining about the attitudes of western Christians and their zealousness. I said, "Oh yes, thar can be problem with Western Christians. They do not understand Japanese culture or how Japanese people think. So, they try to inappropriately push their ideas onto Japanese people." The Japanese person said, "That doesn't make any sense! They won't acknowledge that they're wrong about how God created all things, including Japanese religions. They are unable to exchange ideas and have a conversation!" I said, "Ah yes, well western Christians do not believe God created Japanese religions. This is a difference of religious cultural belief and they do not understand how Japanese think. Communication style is also different." He became angrier with me and said I was not listening to him. He repeated himself, "No, this is not a culture or language difference. That makes no sense! They are wrong." I said, "Yes, they are wrong to push their ideas onto you as they've been very harsh. But they do not believe the same thing as you. This is a cultural belief, it is not a universal belief. Different cultures believe different things. I am sorry they have been so rude to you and are not trying to understand you." He then accused me of being a "waste of conversation" and "not meeting him halfway." I thought this was odd and very rude to say to me. I agreed with him that Christians were being rude to him. But he made the same mistake as the western Christians in believing his cultural idea was universal. Because they did not accept his worldview, they were bad people and he implied I was a bad person for not accepting it either. So much of this cultural exchange will end poorly if we do not understand that we believe different things. Our beliefs are shaped by our language, culture, and historical cultures. It changes the way that we think. Morals that exist for us are often not the same in other cultures. I think the lesson here was the Japanese person was acting the same as the bad behavior he saw in the west. He just could not recognize it because to him, his was the acceptable behavior. You have to remember, just because behavior is acceptable in your country, doesn't mean it is normal in another country.

Understandably most people believe it was the Americans who occupied Japan after WW2. In fact there were two occupying were two occupying and separate forces in Japan after the end of World War 2 until 1952. The Americans were the largest and, as can be seen from the map, occupied Kyushu and most of Honshu. The smaller British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) was a task force consisting of Australian, British, Indian and New Zealand military forces. grahamthomasauthor.wordpress.com/2024/09/13/all…
