also I used to pack my slideshows with memes and visuals and graphics and such, but somehow in [current year] that doesn't seem like a good use of my time (I already resent how much by-hand work I had to do to get good product)

I bet the dedicated tools for using AI to generate powerpoints are pretty good, but out-of-the-box ChatGPT and Claude I could only get to produce mediocre / unappealing presentations (their pptx generation processes are opaque enough that I couldn't see how to optimize)

@SeanCasten Tbh you should probably make sure there’s an EO in the deal along with some laws so they’ll actually follow it

As Republican Senators pitch the idea of having Trump issue executive orders to dial down ICE in exchange for funding DHS, let's all be very clear: AN EXECUTIVE ORDER IS NOT THE LAW. (1/x)

@rakyll Are you saying: when decision makers could move faster than code, decision makers held power. Now, code moves faster than decisions?

It’s been a long time since majority of the developers in this industry could just make things happen. Between the complexity and the red tape, the friction is so high that it's a miracle that the whole thing isn't grinding to a halt.

Like, the factors that make that the ideal date are obvious. But the fact that everyone else also thinks it's the ideal date should affect your view of the ideal date.

Speaking of which: Why does everyone throw their Christmas party on the Saturday before the Saturday before Christmas? Every single Christmas party I’ve been invited to this year is tomorrow.

I want to be able to seal two jars of air and send them off to then get a device optimized for identifying when the air in a room flips from one to the other. Who? How?

Sorry, I do not believe that 45% of Americans under the age of 44 have reduced their expenditure on housing for the specific purpose of attending other people’s weddings. Just because a company puts it in a press release does not make it true.
