For those wondering how I fly to @flyLAXairport so often but keep my sanity… it’s a little known secret called @ReservePS… isn’t the cheapest thing, but it is a GAME CHANGER for travel. Wish they had more locations though *cough* @MCO *cough*

@Vyyyper @ColbyCakesss When I was at Engadget, I was called a shill for many companies: for Apple, for Google, even for BlackBerry, all depending on which product I was reviewing. The number of "how much did XYZ pay you to say this" comments I got were astounding.

I’ve seen discourse over time about how creators get “free” stuff when in effect it’s to cover the products in whatever niche they’re in. I just had a thought: I’ve never seen The Verge or Engadget or a CNET put out a tweet thanking whatever company for giving them early access to a product. Now of course they usually cover that briefly in their actual reviews but never any acknowledgment of early access before the review. Maybe this is why creators are viewed so differently it from traditional media when it comes to getting products early; we’re more open about it which makes it seem more like “free stuff” than it actually is…..
