@USMCLiberal @USA_Polling As a centrist independent who worked for campaigns of both parties in the 1990s: Gen X has always been right leaning in policy preferences, even when they would identify as left, and over the last 20 years they've just begun to bring the identity and policy choices in line

@USA_Polling This is not a real poll. The vast majority of Gen X are left-leaning independents.

@hutchinson Always was. Recall when Brianna Wu raged at how ppl who grew up with punk and grunge could be Trumpers: punk and grunge is about spoiled brat individualism (usually male)? how are you (and her) surprised they're in that cult

@miaaowing Haven't used in 15 years after leaving Windows. When writing, backspace appropriate for where your cursor is. When editing, position the cursor as appropriate for backspace only. Reading the comments here is the first time I've hear of Fn+Backspace

@SwiftOnSecurity I'm crying in this right now, having to normalize addresses and phone numbers globally, but in a centralized data sync downstream from the multiple third-party apps that the users use. Putting the zipcode in the city field, putting both the city and state in the city field. Agggh

@fwiles Have explored Wagtail on my own as a Django dev. A corporate sibling division had outside firm design their new website for them, based on Wagtail. Yay Django! But the marketing team running the site day-to-day hated the admin/editing UI, had site re-done as WP within first year

Dear Lazy Web, while I'm VERY familiar with Wagtail CMS I don't think I'm completely up on best practices around making the Editing interface super slick for less technical users. I'm aware of blocks and page types, etc. but are there any good posts, docs, or talks I should see?

@housecor Used Windows from 2.0, began toying with a OS X Snow Leopard VMWare image in 2010. Then had an electrical fire in apartment and couldn't run my Windows tower, so switched to 10W-at-idle Mac Mini and never looked back.

I used Windows for 20+ years. Then I spoke at a frontend conference in San Fran...the entire audience was laptops with Apple logos. I actually hid my PC behind the lectern! So I decided to switch to Mac 10 years ago. It was a revelation. Once you go Mac, you never go back

@davepl1968 My mother did watch it live. I was home sick from school. My mom - a dyed-in-the-wool Kennedy girl who watched every televised shuttle launch and landing, live, even when it became "boring", came crying her eyes out in a panic from the living room to tell me

99.9% of people who "experienced" the Challenger disaster saw it on replay and now remember it as live. Almost NO ONE was watching. Everyone thinks they were. It's a fascinating collective false memory.
Jeremy London@SirJeremyLondon

Anyone who experienced the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion, like I did, is probably a bit hesitant to get too excited about the Artemis II launch today. I truly hope our children don’t have to experience such tragedy. May the Universe welcome them and return them safely home 🙏

Introducing 👻 Ghostgres - the database from the future This is the world's first serverless, schemaless, dataless database. We completely replaced the relational model with a large language model. No more errors, no more learning SQL - there is no database to begin with.

WATCH: Chief Justice John Roberts asks the U.S. solicitor general about birth tourism: D. John Sauer: "We're in a new world now ... where 8 billion people are one plane ride away from having a child who's a U.S. citizen." Roberts: "Well, it's a new world. It's the same Constitution."

If there are any academics who study body dysmorphia on this site, I'd like to chat with you about this phenomena. Most of these women were pretty before they did this. Why are these women doing this to their faces and bodies???

@ranman @sentdefender The Senate passed its bill; the House did not even take it up for a vote (which would have passed) because Johnson refused to allow a vote on it. So.... sounds like Republicans are the ones creating an impasse
