Piker acts conciliatory on these large shows, then goes back to his own viewers to slobber up authoritarians and scream about how Democrats are evil. Still - I would welcome the news that Piker was voting blue, and telling his followers to do the same. But he should not be a leader, he should not be coddled on friendly interview shows, and his views show not be glossed over.

@SethAMandel You cite a poll that was at least 3-4 months after 10/7 to say there was no immediate bump in sympathy. It’s also ridiculous to say the only way to keep support was to let Iran/proxies “get away with” the attacks. You seem incapable of a good faith argument or nuanced thinking.

I think the fact that there was no sympathy after Oct. 7 for Israel to even squander was the real shock, and it makes a lot of the 'advice' it got afterwards from abroad seem in bad faith.

One of the more remarkable trends of the past 4 years has been the almost total disappearance of environmentalism from left-wing consciousness, and its replacement by various forms of anti-Judaism as the defining test of who is "progressive" and who is not.

@EsotericCD As described elsewhere, toast with butter applied after the bread’s cooled a touch so that it doesn’t melt too much. Then spread it *very* thin. It’s like five times more powerful than salt. Have it with decent black leaf tea with milk.

I'll point out that people are responding with things like "it's an umami explosion" and "it tastes like brown bits in the pan after cooking a burger on the range" and "it tastes like cigarette butts" and NONE of this dissuades me. This might actually be a weird taste I like.

It’s three things: 1) it’s how I make sense of the world. Not because that’s the only way to do it but because I became pot committed to writing as my thing way back 2) this is pathetic to say maybe but I don’t have a lot of traits I’m proud of. Writing is one I am proud of. It anchors my identity and self-esteem. Without it I’m a bum with a gift for laughter. 3) money. 4) though I hate writing because despite everything else I said I’d rather take Xanax and float away all day, I can do it. I can’t do lots of thing I wish I could do because I’m not strong enough. I don’t have the follow through. I say I’m going to go hiking and I never do and that sucks but ok, Writing I can force myself to do. I wish I did it more but I do it enough to do it. I don’t love it. I can do it. And the thing that is most important is that this contradictory bullshit situation nevertheless makes me one of the luckiest humans in history, but it isn’t a pop song. And
