@okwap33331 @business Yes i agree with that and that is why both the USA and Europe are investing and trying to produce their own chips which is why Taiwan needs to diversify their economy I haven’t heard of any ai companies from Taiwan for example
English

@santzthedon @business Whether or not someone has heard of Taiwan as a country does not change the fact that all industries rely on semiconductors. Cars need chips, medical devices need chips, aerospace needs chips, and AI computing needs chips.

Taiwan overtook the UK in stock market value — making it the world's seventh largest — as tech firms regained favor. Read more: bloom.bg/4tklyc8

@rich_rdctd I agree but it’s a start especially considering all the best uk tech gets bought from the USA and we lose so much talent, for example deepmind . Also bts uk is building renewable energy battery storage that should be completed by 2030 that should drop energy prices a lot
English

@santzthedon I'd rather they just didn't spend half a bill and cut energy prices and regulations so that AI companies would be happy to startup here without us needing to start a fund.
English

@okwap33331 @hugocesar87 @business Give me finance companies, pharmaceutical, cars, etc you can’t survive in the long run from just one sector
English

@santzthedon @hugocesar87 @business Delta Electronics leads in server power, Foxconn in EMS, MediaTek in mobile chips, and ASE in chip packaging. A vast network of Taiwanese suppliers in cooling systems, PCB, ABF substrates, CCL, CPO, and MLCC is experiencing explosive growth.
English

@okwap33331 @business Other than chip production what is Taiwan good at? Exactly… if Taiwan was such a good country I would hear about it
English

@santzthedon @business TSMC’s market value equals the UK’s top 8 firms combined. Other Taiwanese giants are also surging: Delta ($151B) has overtaken Rolls-Royce ($144B), while MediaTek and Foxconn now match BAE Systems ($89B). Even ASE ($60B) is neck-and-neck with the LSE Group ($63B).
English

@santzthedon @business Don’t forget TSMC is Taiwanese company, it still counts.
English

@Confetti1279 @business It isn’t I actually had loads of fun in Taiwan when I visited great country but uk is way better
English

@vibewitpriyanka @stats_feed There wouldn’t be AI without the UK research deepmind and ARM. Also London dominates in the fintech industry companies like wise and revolut. UK also dominates in the airspace, pharmaceutical, and oil industry companies like BP, Rolls Royce/Airbus, Astra Zeneca
English

@stats_feed US, China, Germany and Japan are all into technology/innovations/AI/Robotics etc etc wtf UK is doing to have so much?

8. 🇮🇹 Italy ~ $2.74 trillion
9. 🇷🇺 Russia ~ $2.66 trillion
10. 🇧🇷 Brazil ~ $2.64 trillion
English

@hugocesar87 @business Like what?😂😂 AI wouldn’t exist without the uk companies ARM and deepmind
English

@santzthedon @business They have many other interesting companies...what's interesting about UK companies?

Anthropic has announced that it is massively expanding its London presence.
It’s just secured a new office for 800 people - a huge jump from its 200 current employees.
OpenAI announced its first permanent office in London this week and now @AnthropicAI is doubling down.
Meta, OpenAI, DeepMind, wayve and so many others have huge offices in London.
It’s becoming the leading AI hub outside of the US.

The IMF just ranked Britain the worst performing major economy on the planet.
Not a war torn nation.
Not a failed state.
Britain.
Twenty five years of open borders, net zero ideology, DEI over defence and spending money we do not have.
They did this to us.
Not Putin. Not Trump. Not global headwinds.
The people we elected.
Every single one of them.

@200divesL8r @business @grok this doesn't mean anything tsmc is worth around 2 trillion usd and it's the 6th largest market cap in the world that is the only reason Taiwan overtook the UK.

@business No surprise. UK stock market is finance and pharma heavy.

Introducing Sovereign AI, the Government’s new £500m venture fund.
Sovereign AI will support founders from day one to start here, scale here and win everywhere.
sovereignai.gov.uk
English

@Teknium @UKSovereignAI @danbri This funding isn’t obviously fir frontier ai companies, these are smaller startups
English

@UKSovereignAI @danbri Uhh frontier ai companies need 500m$ to continue on for like, 3 days
English

@paligap17 @SebJohnsonUK @TerraOrBust @UKSovereignAI That is why the uk behind the scenes is investing billions every year on renewable energy. Some parts of the uk are run on 100% renewable energies and customers get charged negative rates
English

Tomorrow the @UKSovereignAI fund launches with £500m to back the best of British tech.
The AI economy is growing 23x faster than the UK economy in general.
This initiative guarantees that the public gets to benefit from the explosive growth of the AI sector.

@Tired_ofit_All @SebJohnsonUK @UKSovereignAI There are three reasons: UK has the best universities in the world, London is the 2nd best startup city after San Francisco, and the wages are super low here compared to the USA.
English

@SebJohnsonUK @UKSovereignAI Why would an AI company even try to start up here, when literally every other country in the west has far cheaper energy prices?
Do you know anything about economics?
