@dnlkwk Amen. I’ve had the same experience. Not sure I’d do it again, but very grateful for the experience.

After dropping out of MIT, I had the option to go into IBD or prop trading. Ended up choosing the former (don’t ask). While not something I’d recommend, GS did make me work 100+ hours a week at something + put me in a room with others that also wanted that intensity. Now those same colleagues are partners at amazing firms and founders of unicorns. The takeaway for me is that if you get the chance to work insanely hard with others that are also intense and talented, 100% take it. It’ll pay off in ways you never expected. You’ll also seem superhuman to the folks that can’t imagine how people work weekends.

Wes LePatner was one of the kindest and most brilliant people I knew. She was an incredible mentor to me when I was her analyst during my time at GS, and a deeply supportive friend ever since. It is truly hard to comprehend such a senseless tragedy. My heart and prayers are with her family during this time. May her memory be a blessing.

Piece of Cake is an 8 year old moving company in NYC. They do something like $150m a year (according to axios). The founders resume is pretty cool. Immigrant -> McDonald’s -> Mover -> started moving business with $20k.
