The best parenting lesson I ever received was from a single interaction with my dad when I was 12. I had tried out for this baseball all star team. The results came out and the coaches called to say they were taking 16 players and I was the 17th on the list. I didn't make it. I remember being devastated. It was my first real experience with a failure. My dad walked into my room and sat down next to me. He said: "I know you're upset. I understand. It sucks. But here are the three things the coaches said you needed to work on. Let's go out every day this summer and work on them together." We did. He took me out to the local field damn near every single day that summer. I came back the next year and was a completely different player. Years later, when I got a scholarship to play in college, I still thought back to that summer as the turning point. It took me having my own son to realize the powerful parenting lesson in all of this. My dad had two options in that moment: 1. Tell me the coaches were idiots. They were wrong. They had made a mistake. I was the best player. 2. Acknowledge my disappointment. Reframe it as a growth opportunity. Support me to go after it. It would have been easier to choose Option 1. Honestly, I would have been happier to hear it in the moment. But it would have had a lasting negative impact on my life. You see, there's a big difference between what I wanted and what I needed. Option 2 was the latter. The tough pill. The right pill. My dad subtly reframed that failure as an opportunity. Then he showed up to help me capitalize on it. I'll never forget that. And by the way, my dad still shows up for me in that same way. He sat in the front row of my book tour events, diligently taking notes to help me prepare and improve. I guess some things never change.

Ever get chills when thinking about speaking on stage? Simply tell stories honoring others, instead of thinking you need to pretend to be an expert. Because the fear of public speaking comes from thinking about yourself-- how you sound, how you look, how others will judge you. Now your focus isn't on how you're perceived, but on how you want to elevate others.

Today I saw the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. Yesterday was the British Museum in London, England. Tomorrow, the Great Pyramids in Cairo, Egypt. On social media you see highlights. But the other 95% of time, I’m working from the Uber, the airplane, the hotel, and whenever I can put a laptop on the table or my knees. The truly successful people I know are making the most of this invisible time. Like a duck that sails smoothly across the water but is furiously paddling underneath. I work only half time—- just 12 hours per day. Don’t listen to people who claim that making money online is easy— they’ve trying to sell you a high ticket course or coaching. Would you agree?

Business is not a race. Embrace Slow Building: • Slow Systems - allow you to sleep at night • Slow Content - create a schedule that is sustainable • Slow Culture - there is no such thing as an "emergency" Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

3. Lack of friends We need more useless people in our life. “You need real friends who are useless, not just deal friends who are useful.” Write down 10 people you see in a week. How many do you enjoy, not utilize? Those are your REAL friends, & having them makes you happier.

I had an hour-long conversation with a Harvard professor who wrote a book with Oprah, ran a think tank, and is an expert on the science of happiness. He's been one of my heroes for years. 10 lessons from him on why we're unhappy:

@thejustinwelsh As a kid growing up in India, I vividly remember the lazy afternoon siestas under the shade of a big tree in out veranda, listening to the sounds of nature. Every day had a rhythm, everything slowed down when chores were done. True Happiness!

The happiest people I know are slowing down, not speeding up.
