TBPN has been acquired by OpenAI! The show is staying the same and we’ll continue to go live at 11am pacific every weekday. This is a full circle moment for me as I’ve worked with @sama for well over a decade. He funded my first company in 2013. Then helped us fix a serious logjam during a critical funding round a few years later. When I took my second company through YC, he was president at the time, and then when I joined Founders Fund, the first deal I saw in motion was the post-ChatGPT round in late 2022. And as we started growing TBPN last year, he was the very first lab lead to join the show. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of TBPN until now. The last year has been the most fun and rewarding part of my career and we’re excited to have more resources than ever going forward.

@buccocapital While it’s a good take, it’s over rated. Collaboration in person will allow teams to move faster than fully remote and relying on AI alone. Regardless it’s a good experiment to watch from a distance.

The most interesting part of the Dorsey essay on management TL;DR - Remote companies have an advantage in the AI era because they can only thrive with rigorous documentation, which is perfectly repurposed as context for AI

I've been working on tax software for the past 5 years. This is the last year anyone will have to pay for TurboTax. You can try it yourself today: - add the Aiwyn Tax connector inside of Claude (link below) - give it access to your tax documents (W-2s, etc.) - ask Claude to prepare your tax return ...and that's it!

Vicha Ratanapakdee's family reacts to the judge's decision today, to suspend the 8-year sentence for Antoine Watson and order him to go straight to probation. He already spent 5 years in jail. Watson pushed "Grandpa Vicha" down during his morning walk; he later died from the injuries. I received this message from Vicha's daughter, Monthanus, just now: "Today’s sentence is deeply disappointing. An 84-year-old man was killed in a cruel, unprovoked attack, and our family will live with this loss every day. This is not about revenge—it is about accountability. When consequences do not match the harm, it sends the wrong message about protecting our seniors and public safety. We are concerned about what this means for other families."

Why does a kid with Indian-American race need a 1600 on SAT to have the ~same odds of admission as a White kid with 1450? I cannot think of a single credible, benign explanation for this!
Werner Zagrebbi🇦🇿@zagrebbi

The famous SFFA case treated Indians and East Asians as a single group. This masked significant heterogeneity: It's way harder to get in if you're Indian! In Columbia's internal admissions database (h/t @cremieuxrecueil), East Asian applicants had a 41% lower odds of admission than equally qualified White applicants, whereas South Asian applicants had 63% lower odds.

Asians have a harder time getting into college than whites - which we knew - but Indians etc apparently have a harder time than East Asians.

instead of robbing banks, has anyone just tried going to banks and asking for a million dollars?

We were seconds away from a mass slaughter of Jewish children at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan, today. We got lucky. Next time we might not. Antisemitism is being normalized across America by extremists on the left and the right, while too many politicians are too weak, too cynical, or too complicit to speak up. If the center won’t confront the radicals, the radicals will replace the center. Enough is enough.

Discovered this year: photochromic prescription lenses are convenient, but they’re not a substitute for proper polarized prescription sunglasses. Real UV blocking + polarization makes a huge difference outdoors.

It’s 3 AM: I’m nursing a squirmy truffle pig of a newborn every 45 minutes, husband is sick downstairs, and just as I drift off one of the older boys kicks on the hallway bathroom light. We’ve gotta get 2 kids 2 places tomorrow, trade off holding the baby during meetings, and no one has practiced their piano. It’s 3 AM: I’m counting the hours till sunrise when my older 2 come in and snuggle the baby. He’s smiling now, as soon as he wakes up, and we can’t get enough of it. Feeling lonely - should I sneak down and hug my husband? I wonder what podcast the kids will want to laugh to in the car. It’s going too fast.
New York Magazine@NYMag

Sooner or later, everyone has to decide whether to give up lazy weekends, disposable income, and overall peace of mind to have a baby instead. For many of those on the fence, one anxiety looms large: What if I make the wrong choice? Parent regret is more common than you might think — the r/regretfulparents sub-Reddit alone gets around 70,000 weekly visitors who anonymously commiserate — though stigma makes it hard to admit in real life. Writer Bindu Bansinath speaks with three moms of young children about why they wish they could go back to their old lives: nymag.visitlink.me/Sv0c_9

My information consumption is now 1/4 X, 1/4 podcast interviews of the smartest practitioners, 1/4 talking to the leading AI models, and 1/4 reading old books. The opportunity cost of anything else is far too high, and rising daily.
