@hjluks The effect of exercise muscle immune modulation is fascinating. Sluka’s et al work on exercise (both aerobic and strength) effect on M1 and M2 macrophahes is exciting

@PhysioMeScience 👍🏻 As stated, it’s important not to overstate the effect size of exercise on pain… having said that, exercise is one of the best ways to improve overall health including metabolic and immune

Does inflammation play a role in tendinopathy? 🤔 We had moved away from it but recent research is suggesting both local and systemic inflammation may be part of the pathology. What do you think?

@PhysioMeScience Interesting test and paper… commendable 👍🏻 Suspect a significant % of cohort would not be able to perform… interesting to know how many were excluded in the trial due to inability to perform?

@PhysioMeScience With the added caveat that the effect size on pain from exercise wasn’t outstanding and that “sham” (albeit hard to define non-specific exercises as sham) had similar outcomes to specific tendon targeted exercises. Patient expectations and beliefs play a significant role.

@BrandonLuuMD Om3 EPA & DHA play an important role in inflammation resolution from M1 to M2 states Resolvins, protectins and maresins Not surprisingly they show up in these studies with positive influence However study design is hard connect causation as you eloquently said

Omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and improve endothelial dysfunction. A new meta-analysis linked higher omega-3 fatty acid levels in the blood to a 45% lower risk of cardiovascular death. Lets break it down🧵 1/9

New study finds evidence for neuroinflammation in the periphery of individuals after WHIPLASH. Very well conducted study! Sample size ✅ control group ✅ Sig. findings on MRI ✅ Sig. findings on blood tests ✅ Sig. findings on QST ✅ Seriously, the notions of “brain derived pain” without nociceptive input pain are just plain nonsense and not sustainable anymore.
