@CharlieBarnicle It's not even a mental run, beat two teams on the beach (one of which plays tonight) and then you go into the final day with a chance.

@EFCanalytics I think it's just hope Palace don't win the Conference League tbf, anything around us doing that feels done unless we go on a mental run (and get slight luck with others)

@JDGEFC If West Ham go down I'd be surprised if we didn't take a closer look at Diouf. I'm sure I'll talk about any rumoured targets/signings when they do happen as the window starts.

@JDGEFC Think I've been a little too busy to come up with names that wouldn't just be applying some data filters and blindly advocating for who popped up best. Eric Martel is someone that I think fits the role of the DM profile we're looking for though.

Just got round to finishing this, would appreciate if people gave it a read! Would be keen to hear some thoughts. @archiefrazer11/everton-summer-recruitment-plan-26-27-25cb15de552b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@archiefrazer1

@EFCanalytics @PatricRidge How? It’s a piece of information - and with context perhaps has a place - but it predicts nothing, because there is nothing replicable in it for the future. And expected stats don’t predict, they reflect success based on previous outcomes!

Very important. Leeds have 44 xPtS, which would put them in European contention. Nobody can say they are a side worthy of being in European contention, if you’ve actually watched them.
Jacob@JacobHorsfall_

Game state not important for this? Like Everton I feel do a lot of sitting in and protecting a lead which means teams are battering them with shots. XG has its use & is great, but I hope people don’t use this as the “actual league table” or anything like that.

@Progression1878 And here we're looking at recruiting primarily based on an out of possession profile and yet using data that hasn't been adjusted for possession/team style/league quality.

@ScoutTom_ Absolutely, also big part is using the data correctly Bug bare of mine is people getting the charts out comparing players in lesser leagues & PL players Not recognising team styles & league level differences etc 😂

@ste1jones Champions League.... If Villa win the Europa and come 5th, 6th place gets CL football. Brentford and Bournemouth have to play City, Brighton have United. If those three lose those games (and Bournemouth drop points in 1 of their other two) and we win all three we'd finish 6th.

From how the fixtures are looking, if Villa win the UEL it's looking like all Everton have to do is beat 3 bottom half teams (2, potentially 3, on the beach) to get Champions League football. The point last night could mean a lot.

@aaroncikaya Crystal Palace have the highest wage bill in the Conference League by far. They should be winning it.

Oliver Glasner won the Europa League with Frankfurt. Came to England, won the FA Cup & Community Shield, had to watch Eze & Guehi leave & the geezer’s one game and a half away from winning the Conference League with Crystal flipping Palace. This is insane.

@RyanSoccerAA Hearing "It'll do him no harm to have sat back for the best part of the season and looked at it" is potentially the final straw for trusting Moyes with any sort of youth development.

I would dig out all the quotes over the years from top managers saying how the most important thing for youth development is meaningful minutes, game in game out, in difficult environments, but this is such a common viewpoint at this point I would be wasting my time.
Everton FC News 💙@NilSatisNews

🗣️David Moyes on Merlin Röhl & Tyler Dibling: “Merlin, we like, Tyler, we like. Tyler, we're giving more time to because of his age. “Merlin could have easily been involved in some more games and played a little bit more time. “It'll do him no harm to have sat back for the best part of the season and looked at it. No, we like them, they're both good boys.” (Via @LivEchoEFC)

@PatricRidge many glaring holes in his game for him to be a decent PL player in the next couple years. Maybe he gets there eventually, but him + Garner will never work IMO. Makes sense to move on, especially with how many numbers we have in there.

@PatricRidge Think Gomes might have better suitors, would worry if Wolves are wanting £40m+ and then you're having to pay him a big wage on top of that to persuade him to choose us. Could do a lot worse than Eric Martel on a free. Tim has some really nice attributes but there's just too...

Big decisions Everton have going into summer regarding their midfield. Garner and KDH the mainstays, Alcaraz and Iroegbunam both going into their final years (Charly has an option for one more), Gueye with an option for next season too. Röhl and Armstrong on top of that.

Probably makes sense to have some size in there too, but it's not super necessary. You'd have to look at the Wolves guys given they're gonna be on the market. Want someone in the 21-24 range, having Gueye helps the transition so there's no pressure for them to fit straight away.

Given Garner can do a bit of everything I don't think the profile of the guy coming in matters TOO much, the value in the deal is the main thing. If I had the choice I would be looking at more of an anchor type, someone who'll sit, win duels and is comfortable on the ball.
