My sister gave birth to a red-haired daughter. But she and her husband are both dark-haired. No one in our family has red hair. My sister insists that her husband's great-grandfather was red-haired, and that's how it was passed down. Her husband didn't believe her, especially since she has this one red-haired colleague at work. Anyway, he insisted on a DNA test, which they did after huge fights and screaming matches. My sister threw the paper in his face. It showed 99.9% he's the father. But he still doesn't believe it, says the test could have been faked or someone paid off the lab. He wants to do another one at a different lab, but my sister is afraid this will definitely lead them to divorce He's not even talking to my sister right now. But he says it's better to find out the truth and live with a clear conscience. He doesn't want to raise someone else's child. I believe my sister 100%, but I have to admit the situation is pretty bizarre. Does anyone know anything about genetics?

It is complicated because autism (the label) is a social construct. It is grouping people together based on shared observed behaviours. What we call "autism" might not all have the same genetic basis because it is a behavioural cluster. It just so happens that these some of these behavioural clusters seem to really have a strong genetic component.

You can establish reasonable polygenic risk scores. According to the spark study you can group us into 4 broad genetic clusters. There just isn't a single, specific, and precise sequence that we can use.

@_nomadic_soul That is because for all they SAY they want “modestly dressed women” they don’t actually. Men are the ones who pushed for the modern standards of dress which they claim is sooooo immodest

It’s fascinating because when I show men online what I looked like when I was dressing for that specific male gaze (extremely frumpy, out of date clothing, no makeup, hair not styled well), many of them said they like me better then how I look now (a well put together adult).

@TimAkers Understanding magic turns it into technology. The magic system needs to outside rational understanding to be magic. Maybe that's one of the reasons I stopped reading Sanderson.

Fanfic writing advice on here lately is like: fanfic writers need to read more books. But not so many that you don't update your WIPs regularly. And make sure you're not over 30 years old. And I should be able to tell you that your writing sucks in a public bookmark.

Everyone says “AI will take all the jobs.” If that happens… how does this future actually work? No jobs → no income → no spending. So who buys things? Who pays rent? Who keeps the economy moving? What am I missing here?
