Approvals sometimes involved church-member officials, exposing oversight failures in visa adjudication, naturalisation, and the Movement Control System. This scandal has produced six disciplinary referrals against officials, 100 administrative referrals for deportation, and 275 criminal referrals to the NPA against the foreign nationals and implicated Home Affairs staff. The findings reveal deep systemic vulnerabilities in South Africa’s immigration framework requiring urgent reforms to safeguard borders and restore public confidence.
